Home pest control / exterminator question - DIY?

I'm paying the bug man $400 a year to come spray around the house with a hand sprayer. The exterminator notice says the chemical used is TALSTAR - Bifenthrin.

Question: can I do this myself and save a bunch of money? Can I get this chemical? If not, is there something for consumer that's just as effective? I'm concerned about cockroaches and spiders mainly. Thanks.

A gallon of Spectracide is about $8 and a hand-held pump sprayer is about $10-15. Both are available at most hardware stores.

If he is using a hand sprayer outside he is just pissing in the wind. (was in pest control for 2 years)

I do my own. I spray the outside to help keep the spiders down. Webster to take them down in the first place. I use the foggers inside the house. I have not had a big problem though just some spiders and an occasional millipede near the garage. Very important to keep the house clean so they do not have anything to eat.
