Say you have a design you made in Autocad. But you know nothing about machining.
What would you do? Just shop around for a service for someone to take the drawing and do it for you?
Anyone will need more info to help you with this...
Such as: material, complexity of the machining operations, etc.
I think there are some machinists and mechanical engineers here...

Hey Atlas,
Thanks for the response. The main material is a synthetic composite plastic. It just comes in a block about 5"x5"x25"(length)
But what (in general terms) are you attempting to have fabricated with that material?
Your answer to this question will help others here (more qualified than I) guess what type(s) of machining operations will be required.
I think you're looking at a very expensive proposition. If you're willing to throw around enough to make it worth their while, you can prob call around and discuss your design with someone. An experienced machinist will know a lot about what material can be used, the required tools and operations, and perhaps you can collaborate on a good design.

The entire object is about 5 inches in length, 2 in width and 2 in height. The top is flat, w/ two lands & grooves to allow the object to be connected with another device. The best way to describe that is like the in/out portion of a rail on an AR15. The "body" of the object is designed to encapsulate a computer chip.
I use Solidwork and Catia. with MasterCam SurfCam and Gibbs. PM. me and I will give you an e-mail addy. I can try to take a look at it for you.
