Here in Charlotte we had a radio station pull a stunt where they sent a guy to get on a school bus. He did it and rode the bus for one stop.

They are now trying to say that it was to expose a security hole.
Warrant has been issued for the guys arrest.
I hope the whole crew goes up for a few months...

UH, so what's the problem? And what is it exactly that you want the "whole crew to go up" for?

Do you want that guy getting on a school bus with your kid and giving a live radio audience a report on it.
Do you want them putting that idea into the public?

This is a stunt? Not humerous. Not shocking. Not interesting. A guy boards a bus, BFD.

Guess I am in a minority.
If you hop on a school bus, don't have a kid on it or a kid in the school I think that is a problem.

This is a recording of it.

The charge will be: Willfully trespassing upon a public school bus.

Wouldn't want him on my bus as a kid.

Security hole? Sure.

Sounds to me like the school needs to make damn sure nobody gets on the buses who is not a student or faculty.

Maybe just maybe, they should fire the bus driver for letting him on the bus. :dunno:

What did the driver do to prevent this from happening?

Did the driver even call the cops?

Hell, did the driver alow this guy to hitch a ride to the next stop? And if so, would that still be considered trespassing?
After all, the driver did give him the ride to the next stop.

Just my two cents.

The bus driver is on "leave" pending his hearing. He is so fired.
Sad part? Bus driver didn't do anything and neither did the parents who were standing around.

Yeah, I saw that also. Sounds to me like this guy doesn't need to be around ANY kids, particularly a busload of them.

BFD, what the hell harm did the Morning show's gopher do? They exposed a potential problem in a way that the bus company or district couldn't sweep it under the bus.

Sheep...

Maybe the nut opened some eyes to how easy it was to get on board. Now what? Hire security...w/what money? Its hard enough in most schools to have money for renovations, books or even give teachers payraises. Is the station going to pay for security measures? Probably not. The driver should have said no instead of going along with the stunt. He/she is responsible for everyone on board (IMO). This dumb...could have gone stir crazy on the bus and injured/killed anyone on board. Then what? Driver should be disciplined and parents who stood around and did nothing, greatful no one got hurt. One last thing, driver should have radioed in about situation. It may have delayed the route, but then the station would have failed I guess in whatever it was trying to achieve.

Simple solution, arm the drivers or look for volunteers with concealed permits to ride the buses.

In Indiana it is a felony to tresspass on school bus. Most buses have this posted as you get on. Funny stunt, yes. But not something I'd do with all the crap that has happened already this year involving schools. I have kids that ride the bus and I'd expect not only the prankster but the driver also to suffer some sort of consequences. Cops and school security can't be everywhere its up to everyone to make sure our kids are safe.

I am sure that guy pays his taxes, which go to pay for the bus, driver, gas, maintenance, etc so as far as I am concerned he is entitled to a ride every now and then. :)

Did this guy have the intent to do harm? Were any kids harmed? Sounds like a fun publicity stunt for the kids, particularly if this was a high school bus. Hardly a menace to society.

Go past the white house with the big yellow dog sleeping in the road. Take the next left, then it's just around the bend.

Seriously, while I don't agree with the stunt the question is, what do we expect the driver to do? The driver is obligated to stop, maybe the driver thought this was a relative waiting at the stop with the kids, until he got on the bus. Who knows, but with time I am sure we will get more info on this story.

Now if you were a school bus driver, and a possibly deranged guy got on your bus full of kids, what would you do?

It was the first day of school, did anyone think he was a parent? I don't see the BFD here either. It was stupid, and really proved nothing. But no, I wouldn't want some weird dude randomly riding the school bus with my kids either.

I'm told there was a time when, if you let a cow into school overnight, you got dentention, had to put the cow back, and had to mop up the mess.

Nowadays, you'd be charged with terrorism and attempted murder.

I think he pointed out pretty well the silliness of believing the buses were safe.

Radio Show Bus Stunt

FOXCharlotte.com

Charlotte, NC --

A member of 96.1 The Beat’s "Brotha' Fred's a-m mayhem" got on a school bus this morning and rode to the next stop. They said it was supposed to be a harmless stunt.

"Cubby" aka Jase Squires, did manage to board the bus with a cell phone and filed a live radio report.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office tells Fox there’s now a warrant out for Squires' arrest for disorderly conduct.

He's accused of breaking state law: willfully trespassing upon a public school bus.

Superintendent Doctor Peter Gorman addressed the stunt during his media briefing this evening.

The bus driver - who's been a CMS employee for 11 months - has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation.

The cast of "A.M. Mayhem" said this morning that their stunt exposes a CMS security issue.

Radio station managers did not return our calls for comment.

Jase Squires has a previous criminal record. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office tells us that in 2002, he was arrested and charged for "crimes against nature" and "providing false information to a police officer."

ban school buses, cell phones, radio, school, and any people who use any of those things.

Crimes against nature .... ?????
Yeah. That's almost never a good thing to see on the criminal record of some dude who clambers onto a school bus.

Here's the first page I found when I googled "Crimes against nature North Carolina" (I'm glad that'll be in my google cookies). It sounds like it's a crime that's pretty hard to pin down what exactly this guy must've done for the felony to stick:

At some of our schools the buses are parked at the school and the kids board after school. The drivers sit outside usually in a group waiting for everyone to board.

I could see where someone could easily slip on unseen.
