I just remembered this from the yo-yo-yo standup funeral guy.

We were at the Marshfield Fair last week. Some kid - and I mean KID. White. Definitely suburban. Looking nervous as all get out. With his pack of whitebread crew.

WEARING ONE OF THEM FASHIONABLE NY YANKEES HATS! The ones with NY printed about 2,000 times like the inside of some chippies high-end purse.

Here's a newsflash, yo. This is MASSACHUSETTS! You wanna worry about gettin a cap in yo butt? Worry about 43,389 Red Sox fans at the fair beatin yer sorry butt into the ground.

(No wonder he looked nervous.)

There were others - male and female - that looked like extras on The Sopranos. This aint' NJ! It's podunk, Massachusetts. Get a life. LOL

Great was me and my girls pointing out the young hussies all over the place. As in fairs all across our wonderful country, you get trailer-trash girls dressed as trashy as possible. I mentioned last week the icecream truck girl who almost lost her top on a constant basis. Girls wearing shoes that should be worn nowhere but a runway. Are they looking for some guy to pick them up at 15 or have their parents never told them what trash dresses like???

Doesn't anyone wanna just blend in anymore??? Or does everyone wanna be different - just like everyone else? LOL

In light of the OPs sig line and his take on the subject of this thread ("Thugwear"), I "believe" this belongs in the Religious Issues forum.

Aside from that, I also "believe" there are other, larger issues in today's society more deserving of concern. For example, "kids" wearing, displaying, or "erasing" actual street gang colors.

Has this whole Blitzer-channeling, thread-catagorizing thing replaced "It's on, cuz" as the GT joke d'jour? Or has there been some event that has caused the potty-trained-at-gunpoint crowd to suddenly come out of the woodwork?

My disdain for thugwear got me into this thread. And the way the "old heads" are so willing to jump at and try to embarrass a new guy kept me here. If the guy didn't get the joke, How about a simple "we were talking about something else"? Why the need to attack, and degrade, and even imply that I'm better because I've been here longer? And you shouldn't even try to get into our conversation since you haven't been here long enough. And yep, I've been here a while, I just don't get into every talk.

Alright look, I'm about to get my ***** on and you're making a fool out of yourself. Let's stop. You inadvertently wandered into a little culture war that's going on here on GNG. Your post exemplified one side of the discussion; I happen to be on the opposite side. Your post was a logical place to make my point, but if I'd thought about it, I'd have realized you've not been here long enough to know the history and you would read my comments as a personal attack rather than the usual give and take in our little community. My apologies.

I do think unless you're here solely looking for fights, you'll find your stay more pleasurable if you take the time to learn some of the people and tribal customs before starting to instruct people on their posting styles. I'd been here for several months and had a thousand posts or so before I started getting snarky with people. And there are still people here who think I got a little too full of myself, a little too fast. Your choice obviously.

Yeah, I don't like Gangsta's in general, but the fake ones disgust me even more. Ok, Tyrone was born to a crack whore and had a hard life. He sells drugs and robs old ladies. He is the real deal and dresses like he has been brainwashed to. Because of a lack of independent thought he has not seen the ample opportunities available to him to succeed in our world. He is dumb, but predictably understandable.

The little cracker yuppie spawn is what really bothers me. They are even dumber. They see how everyone else is dressing and acting and emulate them. It is sad. Our youth are getting dumber and dumber. There is a definite lack of independent though and creativity in modern America. Hippies are awesome compared to gangsta's imho.

Gangsta/thug/rapper wear is truly awful. Especially when white suburban kids or people in their mid to late 20s are wearing this junk. They REALLY look stupid. Hey white kids...you wouldn't wear a sombrero or a burka...why don all the thuggy bro-wear? I don't get it. Most black people probably think you look stupid as well.

But hey, this is America and you do have the right to dress as awful as you want.

Now in Waynesboro,Ga it is a fine for wearing baggy pants with your but showing . So happy the law is working . They do not always give the ticket -just yell at them PULL UP YOUR PANTS !!!! from thepatrol car too funny .

I wish everywhere was that way. I don't like the idea of cops wasting time issuing tickets. They really do have better things to do than rear other peoples kids. But would like to see them embarass the little creeps into pulling up there pants. Maybe I'm just starting early on my crotchety old man persona:dunno:

A spotlight to the eyes and a little kid voice "whatcha doin"? over the loudspeaker would get old to them really fast. And maybe make them go elsewhere or just stop. Make there method uncool and they will stop.

When the cops do have to engage them, a great big zip-tie belt will help them keep thier pants up. Make them look uncool until they can find something to cut it off with:rofl:

ETA: And write the ticket, to be paid in person at the S.O. by the parent. If they bring the ziptie back they get a discount. Of course it will be cut, but the parent will know thier kid is deemed inappropriate.

But hey, this is America and you do have the right to dress as awful as you want.

...and I have the right to think you look completely silly!

You just gave me an idea!

 Do you mean that just being here a long time doesn't make you all knowing? I thought time was all it took....

And I'd like to know what that meant too.

Thanks for making my point. :)

It has nothing to do with how long people are anywhere, and more about a back and forth about a specific discussion.

I don't frequent the caliber corner...and I'm sure there is a 9mm vs .45 discussion full of cliches that would blow right over my head...

I personally am in favor of current "fashion" (and I use that term loosely) trends.

- Overly baggy jeans: easier to catch during foot pursuit. It's hard to run when you have to use one hand to keep your pants from falling off your hips.

- Flip-flops with everything (including the oft-maligned Crocs): again easier to catch during foot pursuit, and at a distinct disadvantage during HTH. Humans have a "fight or flight" instinct as a defense mechanism. You cannot do EITHER in flip-flops or Crocs.

In short: Thug-wear -- it's good for law enforcement.

I mentioned last week the icecream truck girl who almost lost her top on a constant basis.

Assuming said icecream truck girl was of legal age (and does not fall into the land-whale category), this may be a good business tactic to garner more business. It sure works at Hooters.

I understand. I just thought that part of it was funny. Much like the 9 vs. 45 arguement. I really do laugh at some of the things people get all bent out of shape about here. It would probably work better if there was a way to type your tone into a post. I'm just having a little fun on my day off. Maybe the joke of it is only funny to me:dunno:. I tend to get off on a tangent. I think it might be a slight case of ADD. Or maybe I have too much real stress to take anything on the net that seriously. If someone isn't bleeding out, it's just another conversation.

I have had parents and other relatives get mad at me when I treat thug-wear kids like they were thugs. "It is just fashion" - "No" I respond "It is glorifying and emulating the worst of criminal behavior; the message they are trying to convey is I am a thug... that is what they are communicating, so I am treating them accordingly" - That really gets folks worked up...

1. I have the camo Red Sox hat. My favorite hat. Definitely not thugwear. Not fashionable to ANYONE in my A/O.

2. Icecreamtruck chippy - definitely legal, but sad. She didn't look smart enuf to be doing it for the extra $. Clueless, and likely preggers by 5 different guys in the next 8 years. She looked that dense. :(

3. I am offended at the Confederate flag. It should be removed at once! ROTFL!!!
