Never mind that Toyota and Honda both have huge plants in Indiana. Also forget the fact that Indiana Automotive Fasteners (located in Indiana just in case you missed that.) makes fasteners for well over half of all vehicles used in this country.

Honestly, I can't think of anyone at the moment. I think it's a good thing when you have to try and figure out who you hate.

Now, I have a "he needs killin" list, but I don't hate those people anymore than I hate a rabid stray dog. Those on the list are simply detriments to the progress of humanity, and their only purpose in life is to cause problems. The only thing that keeps me from putting 'em down like a rabid stray dog is that somewhere along the way people made laws that protect them. Therefor, they won't get it from me unless I get lucky enough to catch 'em stealing my lawn mower or something. That's highly unlikely.

I'm here working, temporarily, and hope to be home in Carolina soon (!). I've enjoyed both gigs though and I've met a lot of very fine people here.


On the one hand, I've heard quite a few here chuckle derisively about a Southerner's attitude toward "that war" with the comment "they should just get over it", etc.

On the other hand, there remains a strong prejudice toward the south and all Southerners, with stereotypical assumptions of ignorance and "inbreed stupidity".

This is usually from Northerners who (a) have never spent time in the south (b) hope to retire to the south.

Well this is an interesting thread. I Hate people w/o car insurance. People who skate paying their taxes(I have to so why don't they?) I am not a North vs. South guy. I grew up in the midwest and now live in the South for some 10 yrs now. I have seen Race issues from both areas and the same BS here in the south that I saw in the Midwest. I have been in every state on the east coast, and they all have their issue for sure, but to say I hate an entire part of the country I love is just ignorant. I would also like to add I have met some of the most interesting people here in the south, and most of them w/ more wisdom in the boxer shorts than some other "smart"/ Northerners(& Southerners) who "KNEW" they were right. I hate any anti Americans period. Our Men die for your right to hate the south or north or whatever instead of it bringing us back together as a nation/ superpower. Thats just bad math. I've traveled the world, and I still haven't seen a country that I prefer over the USA. I've worked with people from all over the USA, and I've yet to find that any generalization about workers from any certain region are any better or worse than those anywhere else in the country.

There are slackers everywhere, more than there should be. That's what's hurting America.

Of course, although I'm not a native Texan, I still hold Texas ever so slightly more dear than America as a whole. You'd have to live here and travel all over the state to understand. I can't possibly explain it.

Certainly I don't apply this to all southerners, but for the few that take it overboard with the whole I am proud to be from the south and I will bang you over the head with it does get annoying though...honestly, it is almost like a napoleon complex to an extent. On the flipside of the coin...alot of northerners do have superiority complexes...so I can see where that comes from.

I am from Maryland, but my dad's side grew up in Georgia so I grew up with ALOT of southern tendencies. I LOVE the South having been stationed in the panhandle of Florida and having buddies from Alabama, so I have gotten to see alot of this region and meet some really good people down here. I like the South so much I bought some land in Tennessee, an hour from Knoxville...my point is there are d-bags everywhere, you just gotta get through them to see and meet the good people.
