Hey guys. So I'm looking to do a weekend hiking trip with my university. They say we need insurance, have any of you heard of weekend insurance (I'd only be covered for the weekend of the trip)? If so, can you give me a website?
I'm guessing it's a legal thing with the university if I should break a leg or something.
Thanks for any help you can give. :wavey:
If you already have medical insurance won't that cover the hiking trip? if you don't have any insurance then short term insurance might be what you're looking for. Google short term insurance to get the details.
If you do have medical insurance then some companies won't sell you additional insurance and if they do then it becomes supplemental insurance and not primary insurance. If you need medical attention your primary insurance foots the bill and the supplemental will cover anything that the primary won't cover like your co-pay or cost above and beyond your insurance coverage.
I imagine Universities differ, but I have to have insurance on my daughter while she's at her school. Also have to have her carry info beyond her insurance card for her semester this fall in Ireland.
Do you not have health insurance through your parents? Does your school not have any kind of student plan?

If you're not insured through your parents' plan (hopefully they have it...), you can probably get health insurance through your university.
Check with the health resources folks...or registrar's office... if you have any questions.
