Read the accompanying text and see if it matches the video. It appears to me the agent is removing the gun from the lockbox and holstering it with his finger on the trigger . And the liberal party line that only cops and military should have guns just keeps getting better.

I bet it was a Glock 40:rofl:

"This is a shooting that occurred at the Federal Courthouse in El Paso, Texas. To give you a little background on what happened. The Marshall was putting his gun in the lockbox when it discharged and he shot himself and the bullet hit the border patrol agent that was standing behind him guarding the prisoners. The Marshall dropped the gun and ran after the Border Patrol guy. The three prisoners on the end were handcuffed together in a circle and had collectively three free hands. They were only a couple feet away from the gun that was lying on the ground unattended. The other prisoners were chain ganged handcuffed meaning that the one on the end closest to the three guys had a free hand as well It's a wonder that none of those guys picked up that gun and all hell didn't break loose. The border patrol agent may loose his big toe."
I would hazard to guess that he might lose his job also.

Watch the BP agent in the middle between the Marshall and the prisoners, he's the one who got shot in the foot, and you can see him limping and running away.
The Marshall, definitely needs to go, if he can't control his firearm in such a controlled circumstance, he shouldn't be carrying at all.

Both the Marshal and the other agent sustained injuries.

While not praising the guy who was a dumbass and couldn't control his booger hook.. he seemed to be the only one thinking there were a bunch of inmates around a gun laying on the floor(notice several inmates pointed at it.. who knows what they were thinking in the confusion), and after the initial shock, got himself between the inmates and the gun.

While that was good thinking he should never had been in that situation. You are a US Marshal and you can't put your gun back in the holster without shooting it what a moron. If I was his boss I would probably fire him if not make his job miserable for a long time like making him write gun safety rules for 2 hours every day for at least 6 months.

Well yeah, read my post, I said he was an idiot, but he was the only one who thought to keep the gun from the inmates.. that gives him a few redemption points.

NO!
He's the one who left it unattended to begin with. None of the other officers there should have been responsible for ensuring that he didn't leave his weapon unattended for a bunch of inmates to pick up.
He an idiot of epic proportions and there aren't enough redemption points on this earth to change that.

True, he caused the situation.. but once it happens, well **** happens, you have to deal with it... Don't get me wrong, I'm all on the bandwagon of him being an idiot.. just saying he deserves a bit of credit for being the only one smart enough to secure the weapon(granted, he did cause the problem in the first place....)
I'm not defending the guy by any stretch, just saying he did do at least 1 thing right.
