I am getting ready to head out for the weekend myownself and I wanted to warn all of you who might be headed to Florida or other parts south (or north) - avoid I-75 and I-85 through downtown Atlanta at all costs. If you need to go through town take the Perimeter (I-285).
They are paving the downtown highways in both directions this weekend. I do not know why this weekend, of all weekends. :wow:
If you are going east or west, I-20 should be okay but I would avoid it too, since the Braves are in town.
Have a great holiday all, and stay safe! :wavey:

Sounds like the city administration has it's head somewhere dark and smelly.
Great planning if Gustav hits the pan handle.
I just went a little west of Atlanta a few weeks ago and I hate all the road work on I75 in GA.
Will it ever be done? seems like its been going on at least 5 years now.

Makes sense somewhat....the city workforce traffic will be minimal....and again, there's always I-285 international speedway....

Um, because the same affirmative action hires who designed the I-75/I-85 split are still in charge of Atlanta highways, perhaps?

That would be the state not the city. :wavey:
Stands by for the spate of Atlanta bashing from people who don't live here, never has been here, and generally don't have a clue WTF they are talking about.:tongueout:

Last time I was there, they were doing some paving on I-75, but they did it after midnight when traffic wasn't so bad. That was pretty bearable.
I love the city. I'd really like to move there, but I can't find a job.
