When I had cleaned one of my guns for the first time, I was not looking foward to it. After all the fun part, "shooting" was over and it seemed like it would be a task. Now however I really enjoy taking my time cleaning and detailing my guns. How do you feel about it? Is it a pain for you or a pleasure? Sorry if this has been asked before but I prefer to have a live forum with people rather than looking things up in a book. :couch:
It's a chore for me. Especially because my wife does not want to see guns around the house. I have to wait until the wife and kids are sound asleep before I can clean my guns.
I really enjoy it. Turn on some music, lay*a couple of rags over the workbench in the garage and get down to business.

I enjoy it. Load iTunes, throw on some music, and take my time with it. My life may depend on the job being done properly, so the time spent is well worth it.
I usually take my 26, the PF-9, and the P32 to the range. So all in all I spend about 1.5 hours cleaning and wiping and cycling to make sure everything is as it should be.

i like cleaning my guns.
Yeah I really enjoy it, unless I take my guns out with the fellahs and I'm stuck with 10 or so guns to clean. They're good about buying ammo, try to get them to help me clean them is another task. Bastards.

I don't like cleaning anything, if someone I knew and trusted offer to do it for free I would take them up on the offer

Your friends should have the common courtesy to shell out for some ammo if they want to shoot. Just my $.02.

I enjoy it! It's also kinda like bonding with your weapon, knowing it inside and out. Also, it's nothing like knowing your weapon's reliable and won't malfunction, due to it being all gunked up!

i agree, but they are all cheap bastages, most of them can afford to buy ammo, but always have excuses. thats why i tend to shoot alone most of the time so its not as bad.
I'm OCD, so I like cleaning my guns. Sometimes, if I really get a hair in my ass, I'll clean 'em until I get perfectly clean patches out of the barrel. But that's rare.

1. clear and field strip weapon (s)
2. pour favorite alcoholic beverage
3. tune tv to any sporting event except women's golf
4. have fun
5. repeat as necessary
I enjoy it. I really like being able to take my guns apart and know what all the parts do.
its kinda relaxing.
I like it, sometimes I will clean even if I havn't been shooting since the last cleanings.
Well its like changing the oil in your car. Not at all exciting but it has to be done.
Why clean them? It's a highly overrated exercise.
I've been buying and shooting all kinds of pistols since the mid 70s
and have never done anymore than run couple of patches thru the
bore and squirt some BreakFree on the rest.
I usually do this within a week of shooting the gun.
As long as it doesn't get wet or fire corrosive ammo, it
won't hurt anything.
Never had a problem.:tongueout:
I field strip & clean after each firing.
Maybe years of military training play a part, but cleaning & inspecting a firearm after a range session is as necessary as loading magazines prior to a range session - to me.
I enjoy it.
My procedure is to unload all of them and take the ammo into another room. Then, toss on some music or a movie and proceed with cleaning them. I like my guns to look like they've never been fired when I'm done. Oh, and you can't say a gun is clean unless you clean the magazines, too.
I dig it. But, i dig anytime i get to tinker around with my weapon.
I really dislike cleaning AR15's any more. AK47's clean ALOT easier, and more importantly FASTER.
I clean firearms when I have to, and that isn't very often. New toys get better attention till I discover their operational thresholds. If they are picky, they are safe queens.
I shoot alot of Glocks, and AK47's these days... (grin) and clean the other pansy's when they demand cleaning...

Nothing beats the smell of gun oil and grease on my hands. I LOVE cleaning my guns after I fire them. Hell I love bringing them out every so often a month and cleaning them even when they don't get fired.
