I got the 3 piece rockyourglock.com's crome pin kit, which includes the slide lock.
With no magazine in it if I pull the slide it locks on its own.
Should it be doing that?
Will that be an issue if I take it to the range?
If the slide is locking back with no mag ...it will lock back after each shot if you fire the handgun . sounds like you have the lever install wrong .... field strip the handgun, and see it there is upward pressure ...meaning the lever moves up on it's own ... if it does this you will need to take out the pins, remove the lever and then reinstall the pins.
install the locking block pins first ....then the second pin which goes through the slide lever..(you may have to wiggle the lever as you install the pin) after doing this the lever should have downward pressure ...meaning if you push it up it will snap back down ...

When I put it on it has upward preasure. I push it down to where it should be, but it rises back up on its own. I guess I have to take out the 3 pins and install at the end the pin that holds the slide lever.
does this make more sense?
You need to install the locking block (top) pin first before you install the slide stop lever. Then you install the trigger (bottom) pin.

Oh ya what he said...I did that one night on my G19, too tired to do the pins in proper order and was stumped for a few min. as to what the heak was wrong. Had the issiue corrected within 10 min. Then went to bed, stripped my G30 down next day, no troubles.
Did feel dumb for a few...
