SFLglock 08-29-2008, 19:13 All glocks are reliable...except the .40's, they KB :couch::kidding: Civitas 08-29-2008, 19:45 Another thread about a G17 that failed got me to thinking: is the G17 the most reliable Glock? Yeah pretty much, along with all the other Glocks. They are all reliable but I like the G17 best. poppabrutus 08-29-2008, 20:02 I have seen articles about legendary torture tests of the G17. I don't know if the other models have been tested as thoroughly. And Front Sight rents G17 to students who don't bring their own guns. There must be a reason. If I had to bet on it I would say the G17 has the edge. PRNJ Pete 08-29-2008, 20:19 Being they are all 99% exactly the same, save for caliber and length, they should all be pretty much equally as reliable, and for all of them the reliability of them is very high. Why else would we be shooting ugly, boring, plain, inexpensive plastic guns? WayaX 08-29-2008, 20:22 Between the GLOCKs I have, my 36 is the only not to have some sort of malf. The others are very reliable, but have at one point (due to ammo/operator error, etc) had a problem. The 36 is seen as the bastard child of gaston's creations, but mine has been great. tbhracing 08-29-2008, 21:03 I am going to guess that the G17 is the more relaible based on the caliber. BUT....This Glock 21 Torture Test (http://www.theprepared.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=90&Itemid=40) proves how tough and reliable Glocks are. Butch 08-29-2008, 21:26 Sure they are! Have you not seen the chart? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/Glock%20pics/Glockreliabilitychart.jpg  :patriot: Giggity-Giggity 08-29-2008, 21:27 Nope, the G35 & G23 are reliable in my book. thegriz18 08-29-2008, 21:31 haven't there been problems with all of them somewhere along the line? Didn't NYPD have some issues with their G19s not extracting or something? Everything breaks now and again. My G23= god knows how many rounds in all weather with zero problems. RayB 08-30-2008, 18:16 My personal Glock reliability history looks like this... 10/2005 G21: New gun, new shooter, a couple of FTF's (probably due to limp wristing). Several Fail-To-Feed issues caused by bad CCI Blazer ammo--cartridges varied up to 1/8-inch in length! Since then, zero problems! 10,000 + rounds... 12/2005 G19: New gun, new shooter (wife), a couple of FTF's traced to one of five new magazines. Faulty magazine exchanged, zero problems since then! 8,500 + rounds... 06/2006 G17: New gun. Zero issues! Approaching 12,000 rounds... Both 9 mms have 33-round magazines--zero problems with these! --Ray slewfoot 08-30-2008, 18:20 I have never had reliability problems with any my Glocks. Maybe I am buying the wrong ammo. sigpro-fessor 08-30-2008, 19:16 The 17 is the original design, every other model was an after thought. That being said, Id have to wager the 17 and the 19 are probably the most reliable overall. Caliber being an important roll as well. The 9mm is less punishing to the gun, thus giving better wear characteristics. jbyrum87 08-30-2008, 19:48 Sure they are! Have you not seen the chart? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/Glock%20pics/Glockreliabilitychart.jpg  :patriot:  thanks for breaking it down for me, personally having shot glocks for some time i think they are very reliable guns, that and they are pretty much all the same Dalton Wayne 08-30-2008, 20:04 I think they are all pretty darn tough. Gunzz 08-30-2008, 20:41 I have an original 1986 vintage G17 with superb history. I lately rpefer the G34 for my hands. I remember that the $350 I spent for the 3 magazines and the original box was high to me. Looking back, it was so cheap. The service life it has given me has been less than pennies on the day. As much as I think they are plain and homely, I always seem to have one on me. In 9mm. (I own other calibers and flavors, too, but the 9mm is always with me). psychophipps 08-31-2008, 03:49 My 1986 vintage (Hey, it was a good year!) G17 is ticking along just fine as well. The only issues I've ever had are two FTFs from obvious limp-wristing by first-time kids shooting it and a single failure to return to battery by 1/4 inch, which was probably also a limp wrist on my part, quickly fixed with a light tap on the back of the slide. The weapon was used as a duty/competition gun for a Portland, OR police officer before my friend got it (the whole front top edges of the slide are rubbed silver with other obvious holster wear), my buddy shot the heck out of it with lead like a dork, and then he sold it to me for $100 because he hated the trigger and had leaded up the barrel to where it shot lousy. Hey, I'll pick up a $100 pistol because he was too lazy to clean it correctly. Add that I shipped off the pistol to the factory for a new everything but barrel, slide and frame, got a free pistol box out of the deal, and great service for free and I'm looking at a total expenditure of $169 for a refurbed pistol with a lifetime warranty. Love the pistol, it's my daily carry, and I'll be buying myself some more Glocks... GMAN40 08-31-2008, 04:02 I've never owned a Glock that wasn't 100% reliable. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
