Many of you have answered questions and gave your best recomendation on my struggle to decide between the G17 and G34. I'd like to start by thanking all who contributed.
I made my decision today and went with the G34. My intent is to use it completely for range use and competition. It came with the new style mags, although I purchased an additional two mags which unfortunately are the old style. Not a big deal, but I like to keep things the same so I did note the difference.
I took the new G34 along with my almost new G19 to the range. I can happily report that I am very satisfied. The first chambering of a round caught the round before it was completely chambered. So I pulled the 34 apart, put just a little lube on the rails and gave it a second try. Flawless from this point on.
While shooting slowly and carefully I did sub two inch groups at 35 feet. Which for me is pretty good. I was able to switch between the G34 and the G19 without any difficulty. The gun is very comfortable in my hand; I'm not real sure why, but it feels better than the G17.
I personally think the G34 is too large for EDC, although I'm sure there are many who will disagree with this statement.
Can't really think of anything about the G34 that disappointed me.
With this purchase, my main guns have now gone from a Sig 239 for EDC to a G19 for EDC, and Sig 226 SCT to a G34 for range/competition. Sigs are awesome great looking guns, but the simplicity in combination with the reliability and accuracy of the Glocks have once again won me over.
