What would you do if you were home alone for a week?

My roomate (my brother) left for a 100% free, 9 day cruise today that his friend hooked him up with.. down the coast of Mexico.. bastard.

My gf also left today with her parents to a funeral. They'll be gone for at least a week.

Ill be working very little next week, a few hours.

All these events coincided at the same time.. I feel for a reason :supergrin: Kinda like a Ferris Buller, Risky Business or Home Alone 2 feel. So I basically have my house to myself, and tons of free time.

Its very quiet. Right now Im just baking some hotwings and walking around in boxers. But this cant be wasted.

What would you do if you had a week of nothing.. whatever you felt like?

Need some good ideas.

Keep the house clean, catch up on some movies that no one else in the house likes, wash dishes, shower, shave, iron some clothes, dust the door trim, vacuum carpets, mow the lawn, cook some meals, drink, surf the internet, invite some new friends over for some discreet fun.

Now that this has been said... I would do what cjlandry said 3 posts up. My wife has been filling in at a remote lodge (as a licensed massage therapist) for the past month. I've been living the bachelor life, but ala cjlandry style. One night out with the boys, but my routine has stayed the same...

I would just chill. I love having time to myself, because most of the time I am with my girlfriend. When I am alone my favorite things are: yard work (I love mowing, its therapeutic), movies, cleaning my car, and just hanging out.

The first time I was ever alone for a long time was two years after my dad died, I was in high school and my mom finaly went on a vacation for a couple of weeks with some friends. She had been buying new furniture but also hanging on to everything in the house that was connected with my dad and the place was getting crowded. When she left I started taking truck loads of things to the dump or salvation army. When she came back all she said was it looked cleaner with out all the junk she couldn't bring herself to throw out.

Now when I am alone for a week or so I spend a day or two and take on projects I can't do with the house full of people.

Well, yes. Yes I do. It started out with Super Colibris and progressed from there.

I can also assure you that a .30-06 is loud beyond imagination even with the muzzle poked out a back window and I don't dare touch off a .375 H&H from inside unless in dire straits of brown furry things attempting entry.

I was actually home alone for 2 weeks at the beginning of the summer.
I wrote a list of big jobs that needed doing around the house that were hard or impossible to do with the kids and wife around, and a list of fun things I felt like doing that were hard or impossible to do with the kids and wife around. I did one thing from each list pretty much every day. Built a koi pond with a solar powered waterfall, removed, sanded, stained, sealed, and reattached my bathroom door, cleaned the basement, etc...
Won't get into the fun list. Many TOS violations were on it.

ETA: Also, since the family gonna be gone, I updated my Netflix queue so tat I had a 2 week supply of slasher movies and other stuff I can't watch with the kids around. It was a great way to unwind from all the work and non-work I had done during the day.

I left guns out on the counter and nobody yelled. I left ammo on the kitchen table for a whole week and nobody complained.

I watched pr0n unabated...in surround sound and on a 46" lcd

I passed out in my recliner while watching TV just because I could.

My local Pizza Hut delivery guy became my best friend. We would have been better friends if I put pants on before I answered the door.

I got above mentioned delivery guy to pick up beer at the grocery store for an extra $5 tip.

I was way relaxed because I didn't have the annoyance of 2 other people in the house. I had my 2 dogs still but they're cool.

I would take part of the time, earlier in the day, to do some work on a gun project, on a dining room table where you can just stop working when you feel like it and leave everything where it is. Small parts and all. When other people are around you can't do that without something disappearing. Enjoy the solitude.
