Hello!

New member of this board and wanted to say hi to all of you here.

I currently own a FM Hi-Power 9mm (argentina clone of FN HP) and have also Galil AR as duty rifle in Defence League of Estonia. (its something similar to National Guard in U.S i believe).
Few weeks ago i asked some dude at pistol shooting range who was using hes G17 can i try hes baby. He said "Sure knock yourself out"
So i tryed full magazine (17rounds) and made the tightest group ever i have fired with a any pistol from 25meters. I was so amazed. 1st time shooting DA only trigger and better results then with a old friend HP. G17 was totally stock.
Shortly after that i started to make research about Glock pistol family and and got kinda obsessed with some models.
G17 1k USD, G17Pro 1,2K USD(sold here aswell =)) and G34 1,2K USD :dunno:

I cant buy them all right now.. guess only one for starters. And i dont think i meet any1 who has g17pro or g34 at range and we have gun licence laws here so that you have to buy and register the gun at your licence before you can take it even out of shop. I have something similar to US full military licence but still dealers are not allowed to give gun out from shop to try.

I just registred to local IPSC security course and will join some of the club later.

Another problem about choosing gun is that G17 Stock would be only way to shoot in Production division. But i kinda like the aura of G17Pro and G34 more. Wich of those 2 last would be better off in Standard Division i wonder heh.

So many questions to ask. and im reading alot here aswell.. and wanted to tell that im very happy to find this forum you have here =)

Welcome to Glocktalk. I have no idea what the G17 Pro is, but the Glock 17 is my favorite. I think it will serve you well. The one that fits you better/is more accurate for you would be the best one to go with.

Thank you all for a warm welcome =) :wavey:

As for ammo 9mm is cheap here. .40 S&W costs about twice of the price of 9x19

12,5USD for 9x19mm 50cart. box and 25USD for .40 S&W 50cart. box

As for what can i get.. i guess any. But is it worth to practice with it.. guess not.

Staberinde.

First, Welcome !!!!

Now a question for you. Since the Russian invasion of Georgia, have you sensed any heightened sense of increased security, or any higher levels of alert.

I am guessing that it must make the Baltic Republics much more nervous.

I am not sure I would be very far from my weapon these days.

There is some politicians who took word on that case imho just to get attention but in reality not much. More talk about aiding Georgia with rebuilding it after bombing etc. People seem to be more concerned with that actually.
Seems like people around here trust NATO for shielding us. Folks believe russia would not dare to test NATO. And we don't have anything even similar to situation in Georgia. Russian immigrants do complain about their lifes here but thats normal. Most of russians here who complain are not even able or dont want to learn the language spoken here. Wich is estonian offcourse =). University's and all such are in estonian only so if you want to go somewhere with your life here its very hard without speaking estonian. (edited)
But still the majority of them dont wanna learn so be it for them. They are doing most of the "dirty" works here. Its their choice. Im not saying all but only in general.

Abpot carrying a gun is very rare here. 99% who carry have LE or Military background/occupation.

Though i heard a statement from some local not so major player that we should allow NATO to build some bases here. But that's only the level of opinion by talker. Nothing else.
On streets and among friends its still the same about our security. The feel of Russia on the other side of fence is constant here. Not fear.. its just reality in what you have been grown up. So there is no extra defence measures being executed. Observing is on top level as always =)

Also russia is being under of the attacks of statements against themselves from all Europe and NATO so they have at the moment other troubles to worry about.

What can come from there in future is different story, like i said before that situation about invading us is have been real all the time before.

Welcome.

The 9mm Glocks are probably the best Glocks in terms of reliability and durability, followed by the 10mm Glocks.

In 9mm, I think that the 34 is the best. The longer slide has a better balance and longer distance between the sights, which aids accuracy. If you are looking at either a 17 or a 34, I think the 34 is worth the extra price. However, there is no wrong choice here, since both guns are excellent.

Another BIG howdy from Texas and Welcome to GT. If I'm not mistaken I believe you are the first Estonian memeber of this wonderful (and time consuming) Website. I also have the G-17 and I have had it for about 4 1/2 years. Still can't keep my hands off it.

Again, welcome in, you will learn a lot from the deep well of info on this sight. Happy Glockin'!

As so many have I want to welcome you as well to Glock Talk. To answer or try to answer your question there are a lot of Model 17 shooters that have taken the basic pistol to higher accuracy levels by tuning or replacing triggers and using after market "Match" grade barrels.

The Model 17 in it's base form is a very accurate pistol but like anything else can be made better. I'm not sure what would be available to you in your country. However I am fairly sure that if you ask some of the people involved in competitive shooting in your area, you will quickly find a gun smith that can make suggestions for you.

Find out what those involved are doing and you can go from there. If a Model 34 is available I might have to give that some serious consideration. I'm sure most everyone here will tell you that things like sight improvements and trigger tuning or replacement are great ways to go. Again it's very nice to have you on our forum. We are grateful for your participation and your friendship.

I do have a question for you. How much would a Model 17 or a Model 34 cost in your part of the world? We always like to see if we are getting a good price.

Take Care
Best of Luck

I visited 2 local glock sellers today. Prices for G17 are 1000-1200 USD
G34 1200-1400USD

I think ill go for 17Pro. Its same as G17 but some adds as follow
- Glock factory tritium night sights
- Glock factory threaded barrel, about 1/1" longer than the stadard one
- Factory marine spring cups
- Factory modified magazine release
- Extended slide release, (factory standard in newer models)
- Extended +2 mazine base plates
- Glock factory gun pouch
- 3,5 lbs connector
(copy paste from site)

G17Pro 1200-1400USD

compared to prices you guys have there 490-600.. lol i could only dream about something like that =/
