choke tube = shot gun not a single projectile
It sounds like YOU should stick to STOCK items for YOUR own safety.
What you need is practice with a purpose. Your G17 is capable of sub 4 inch groups at 25 yards. When you can shoot that well all day long then you may be ready for a Bar-Sto.
You've gotten some excellent advise above.
Bar-Sto is arguably the best of the barrel makers, they offer two types of barrels, one that is called a 'drop in' which requires minimal fitting, and the other is a match grade that does have to be fitted.
If you want to see any noticeable improvement in accuracy potential, the fitted barrel is the one, and have Bar-Sto install it.
However, like Danny hints at, if you can't shoot a 4" group at 25 yards with the stock barrel, you probably won't be able to with a fitted match barrel either. The money would be better spent on training and practice.
Another 'good' reason to go to an after market barrel would be if you want to reload your ammo using cast lead bullets. The cut rifling and the slower rate of twist in aftermarket barrels makes it much easier to shoot lead.
