The 686 is a stainless steel "L" frame revolver. 586 is the same firearm in blue carbon steel.

The 686 and 586 are "L" frame.

Any "K" frame stocks (of the same configuration, i.e. 'square' or 'round' butt) will fit an "L" frame. Holsters must be "L".
