View Full Version : Locked "broke Glock" thread question
Before this thread was locked:
"I'm an idiot I broke me Glock and its not even a week old (http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=922306)"
A picture of a busted XD was posted. :wow:
Anybody know the real story on what caused the failure? :dunno:
I`m not sure what you mean by "broke or locked",but if you mean the slide is locked, the recoil assembly was out of place when you reassembled after feild stripping.Only getting physical with it will fix it.You must pull the slide off.Make sure the rear of the recoil assembly is fully seated in the "half-moon" seat every time you reassemble after feild stripping.

I believe he was inquiring about the busted XD pistol rather than why the thread was locked.

Not through that shop. The guy was having a fit because they wouldnt just give him a new gun to replace this one and left mad.

If that happened to me, I would be demanding my money back. I don't think I would want another gun of that maker and model.
Thanks green marauder, that was my question. :wavey:
Guess I should have just PMed you.

If this happens again, ask about the pistol (the XD) and post the pic, but don't reference the locked thread.
In this case I hope folks realize you have a question about a pistol, and are not trying to restart an old argument, or intentionally violate Eric's rules (GT's TOS).
Starting a thread with a title that mentions a locked thread is a sure way to get your new thread locked, and possibly a warning. (I hope the mods are gentle with you, but read the TOS).
I have no idea about the XD. This really belongs in Non-Glock Firearms forum. I hope someone can answer your question.

p.s. IBTL ;)

If that happened to me, I would be demanding my money back. I don't think I would want another gun of that maker and model. It was, more than likely, the fault of the ammo, not the gun. What caused it would have to be detemined first.

Looks like the result of a grossly overcharged round or maybe a round fired after a squib which blocked the barrel. If in fact the shooter was firing factory loads, he needs to be talking to the ammo manufacturer, not the dealer or Springfield.

Wow. What caliber is that?
.40 Smith and Wesson
180 gr. Ranger T-Series
The guy said he had just cleaned the gun, this was supposed to have happened on the first shot. it is assumed he left a patch, brush, jag, or something in the barrel. I'm no XD fan but thats because of how they feel in my hand not their quality. I just dont think that round would have done that on its owne, if thats what he was really using.
