While it was interesting somewhat to read about the different people who have test fired Glocks, I have a question.

Since Georgia doesn't require it, I put the test fired cases in with my other spent cases, and tore up the envelope and threw it away.

Any reason not to do it this way? I mean, why keep them?

Some states have to take their test fired casing to the local law enforcement as part of registering the firearm. If your state doesn't need it then no worries. If your state does need it, it is a big deal.

Thankfully in Florida we don't need them, but I keep them anyway just because I like to keep everything that comes with any gun I buy. If I ever go to sell it, it's nice to be able to throw them into the box.

On the same subject, why do most pistols have stickers on the box that say 'no shell included for NY, MD (and a couple other states IIR)?

drewThat's probably their polite way of saying that they don't sell guns to godless commies.

:dunno:

Its only the US that gets those cases, anywhere else in the world where you buy a glock there test fired in Austria anyway. Had a few rugers that had that test case, like others mine went into the 'to be reloaded' bin.

Even though your state doesn't require the shell casings, the little envelope they came in was actually valuable. When I buy a new Glock, I throw away the casings but keep the envelope.

Printed on it is the date the gun was test fired, which is usually the date your Glock was made. It's good to have that information for future reference if there's any upgrades later or you're just curious about how old your Glock is.

Don't those states keep the shells for their ballistic fingerprints and keep them on file?
