View Full Version : Most who turn 21 go to a bar....
..not meeeee
took a trip to Basspro to see if they had any Glock 19s, and they did
First I handled a Sig P226, then a Glock 19, then a Glock 26. Sig was nice, the mag release felt a little stiff and I had to alter my grip to get to it good.. so I decided to pass on that, plus it was more expensive than the glocks.
Glock 19 felt the best out of the 3, mag release and slide release were all easy to get to and felt comfortably in my hands. I couldn't work the mag release on the 26 at all, it didn't work right with the shorter grip cause my pinky was under the mag and I had to straighten it to release the mag, and to do that I had to alter my whole grip
anywho, here da pics ! Now i get to buy ammo, holster, belt, all the other gun stuff !
Still haven't had my first drink, oh well maybe later !

Go to the bar, I had fun going out the night I turned 21, I brought a pillow to work the next day. Not saying you won't regret it, but do it anyway, part of living.

Anyways congrats! I'm thinking of getting a Glock 26 when I turn 21.

No, that is the finish. You can usually see it under bright light. My brand new G19 has that too. Its normal, and alot of people dont even notice it. If you get a bright flash light and shine it up close you can see it pretty well.

Young man, you have shown a level of maturity far beyond your years. :wavey:
nothing good will come from "going to a bar",,,,,,,,,,trust me,,,,,,,,I know.. :worried:
Happy Birthday!
Save the money you would waste drinking and not remember anyways and spend it on ammo or some of the other accessories you need. Just my opinion.
Enjoy the G19.
Welcome to the addiction and start saving for your next Glock.
Yes it's really that bad.

Congrats on your purchase, but get rid of those damn stock plastic sights.

Yesterday I went to my local Bass Pro Shops at the Dolphin Mall here in Miami FL. and bought 2 boxes of hydra shock for $17.99 each one + Tax.
I was looking for this, but they run out of it:

I didn't do that on my 21st birthday. I don't like to drink either.

celebrate how you wish; not everyone wants to drink to get drunk.
If you do never try the 21 shots for 21 years in one night: kills way to many kids with alcohol poisoning.
I was in basic training on my 21st..... (oh joy)....
I don't like drinking :whistling:My life would have gone easier if I had the same attitude at 21 Shrugs. Your collection is off to a great start whether you end up happy with two guns or not satisfied with 30 (mea culpa 30 was a few back). But try not to rule out the SIGs entirely - they are also great guns.

yeah, I thought it was way overpriced. They did have those that are in your link and they had a little video playing with it, but they only had .40S&W, so I walked away lol
I went to wal-mart and they don't even have JHPs >_< I wanted to get a few different boxes of JHPs before the range trip Monday so I could see what worked best and order the rest online, but I don't think I'll be able to find any before then

I won't, my Dad likes Sigs alot and hopefully he'll let me shoot it this Monday :rollsmiley:

Everyone has personal preferences for cartridges -- weight of bullet.
For 9mm I like any round heavier than 115 -- that i hve shot. for me a 127+p+ shoots smoother than a wwb115jhp. 147 does the job just fine.
your mileage may well vary so do try different cartridges. for jhps the police results of actual shootings are preferable to gel tests and newspaper tests and water jug tests -- in my opinion.
in general heavier bullets penetrate with greater consistency; again YMMV.
nice choice for a fist weapon and good choice of how to celebrate -- getting drunk on your birthday is an old cliche. having and enjoying a legal drink without getting drunk off your fanny would be noteworthy;)

I thought they were a an upgrade, lol. don't most glocks come with the plain, black sights ?
Any ways, i never liked them, but they seem decent right now, and I don't feel like paying $80 or so for some sights right now, especially cause I haven't shot it yet lol
Good choice, I got a 19 when I turned 21. Enjoy your 21st, after that, birthdays pretty much suck.
happy birthday!!!:birthday: on my 21st i also went out purchased my first roscoe(ruger redhawk 44mag). a week later traded (& paid diff.) for a glock 19. that was way back in '91 and that glock is sitting here in my computer desk right now. save the one you bought today, shoot it, and buy more for later. just like prom night, you always remember your first.(or second, or third, or...):whistling:

Ha Ha. I was thinking more of a chocolate bar. It kinda looks rusty. CONGRATS on your Glock though. And Happy 21st!

Very wise decision...........if I had all the $$ that I'd spent on drinking over the last 25 years my Glock collection would be the envy of the modern world.
I love to drink but over the last 5 years or so I go for quality not quantity.
Congrats!
first day shootin was fun. shot 2 boxes of WWB 115gr., no problems
most of my shots were all over, just gotta go back and keep practicin
10 yards, 2 mags, slow, easy shootin

Congrats on your 19. It was my first gun as well. I admire your maturity regarding the drinking. Far too many youth succumb to the peer pressure and make unwise decisions. Enjoy shooting and if you are so inclined, gun collecting.
Glocks can definitely be addicting, but check out some others along the way. Definitely keep a Sig or two on the radar. They are great guns as well.

i recommend the fobus paddle holster. It's a great rig.
grab up a few more magazines before the bigger ones get banned. remember that the ones that fit a 17 will lock into a 19 as well so that is an option as well.
congrats on your purchase and living to see 21.

how do the 17's mags fit into the 19 ? How much sticks out ? I haven't seen a picture of a 19 with a 17 mag in it
I'm planning on ordering 2 more mags for the 19, and maybe 1 33 rounder tonight. already got a glock combat holster and mag holster on the way (had a $10 off coupon code for cheaperthandirt so it came out to about $12 total  )

Gotta agree with you on that. Most of my friends are at the bar several times a week and have nothing to show for working all the time. I go home when they go to the bar and they all want to know how I have so many toys.:dunno: They really can't figure it out which makes me
