I just got a 21sf and am going to take it out for the first time this weekend. My dumbass roomate was checking it out and dropped it onto the carpet from a fair height. I just notice that when the trigger is depressed after dry firing there is a rattling sound when the gun is shaked. When the trigger is in the firing position i dont hear it. Also the slide seems to have some up and down play in it tolerence wise. I was wondering if this is common with glocks and all pistols or is something wrong. Thanks guys im new to the guns in general and especially glocks.

That sound you here is a thing of beauty:supergrin: It is the firing pin moving in the channel...perfectly normal!

I really doubt your GLOCK was hurt...but to be on the safe side you may want to have a GLOCK armorer or gunsmith take a look at it before you shoot it. .45 ACP can produce destructive forces if something did get knocked out of whack on the gun....However it's very, very, very unlikely!!!

Have a great time with your new GLOCK

And tell your friend he's a dork:upeyes:

I thought you were talking about a 21 year old single female! I was gonna trash you for calling her it...

I'd simply take it apart and reassemble and go to the range. It'll tell you if it's hurt from there.

Forget about it! When the trigger is back the FP is loose and will rattle. I've already dropped my Glock from approximately 3 foot high onto a linoleum covered concrete floor. You might nick the edge of the polymer frame, loosen a front sight, or scratch the slide; but, you aren't going to damage the pistol.

Stop a moment and reflect how violently the slide recoils against the frame every time the pistol is fired! It's no big deal - Really. ;)

Just do us one favor, keep it away from your room mate in the future... we'd hate to hear that story with a different ending.

It locked in a safe along with the ammo but anyways i just like having a piece a mind seeing what you guys think. What about the slide rails and the lugs on the frame having some up and down play?

 If that play weren't there your pistol wouldn't work! Relax, you're obsessing about nonsense; you need to get out and start shooting. You'll feel better about everything.

Don't ask how many times I've dropped my G-21 on hard linoleum floors during the past 5 years. (3 times) Once it fell off a shelf onto a linoleum covered concrete floor when a construction crane accidentially backed into the building; and, that time it fell from over 4 feet up! I was standing across the room; and, all I could do was watch it fall - Gasp! (I carry in C-3!) ;)

Suggest you find something else to fixate on like what your girlfriend is supposed to by doing right now?

Your Glock is fine. Keep it away from your room mate. They need to finger bang their own hardware. Your weapon is like your woman.

Be sure to keep the gun in the safe, locked away from your "roommate". Ask me how I know these things.. :embarassed:
