Just picked up a OD 17 at Gander in upstate New York for $489...The mfg date was 3/04. Sort of surprized to see such a relatively old pistol sold new. It wasent the only one they had in that age range in OD either. Seem to hear folks on this list talk like the OD's are had to come by. By the way, has anyone seen a OD colored plug for these things!

Nearly jumped on that deal several times myself. Seems that Gander runs specials like that occasionally where the prices actually come into line with what everyone else is charging.

That price (550-600) is in line with their other GLOCKs, The OD one sat there for weeks and weeks, just tormenting me until I had to save it and take it home. I have owned handguns since 1974...all kinds except Glocks. I picked up a G-20 10mm 2 two mo. ago to start shooting that cal. again(I have an old Springfield Omega, but its a safe-queen) Then a black G17, to have one in a inexpensive cal. to shoot, now this OD one, for no good reason! I really donot understand my obsession with these things. I never was compelled to buy mult. Colt 45's...one seemed fine. But these GLOCKs have some sort of spell on them!

It's not necessarily unusual to buy a brand new Glock and subsequently find that was manufactured several years previously. Apparently Glock "batch produces" and places them in storage, drawing down on stocks as distributers order. My BNIB G17 and G21 3rd Gen guns were purchased from a high-volume dealer in the Seattle area (and one that I trust, and have done business with for over 13 years) in 2006-and both were made in 2002, as dated by SN and the date on the expended cartridge case envelope...

Best, Jon

Sorry, but I can't buy this. Glock won't store guns for years, just in case of demand. Glock is always in demand, and they often have backups in production. Most likely the distributor is storing guns, or they are purchased from dealers that have gone out of business. I have bought many, many Glocks, and never got one more than a few months old, even OD.

Drdbaron, glad you picked it up because it had been hanting me as well. I was releived the first time it went back up to regular price from sale price. But they do that $60 off routine all too often for my wallet.

Congrats on the OD17!

Three of my four Glocks are OD. Try a black plug, though...the contrast is nice.

Congrats on your OD Glock 17. I tried to buy me a Glock 17 (a black one) Friday. The dealer didn't have any NIB in. I found two new ones at area pawn shops but They were $550 or above. I had about $620 in my pocket and walked out of there without my Glock 17. I guess I will go back Wednesday and put $300 or so down on it because I blew nearly half of the cash. Or maybe when I get paid Thursday I will just purchase it straight out.
