I just checked on a shipment and got:
Your package has experienced an exception
Anyone know what an "unforeseen event" means?
Thanks.

Well, the storm has played a part in getting planes in and out of shipping hubs, trucks on the road, etc.

when they put that in there it almost always is weather related.Had this happen to me last winter when we got a snow storm
I know there is an air hub in Dallas, which would be the closest hub to Kansas. Betting things are jacked up at DFW today.

An exception is any kind of event that doesn't include, delivery, arrival, departure or destination scans. It can be anything from "we have no idea where this box went" to "we tried to deliver it 3 times but nobody answered" or "there's 12 feet of water on the front porch and we can't deliver."
During Katrina all the packages that were destined for zip codes in New Orleans were automatically diverted to warehouses elsewhere to be claimed once the victims got situated elsewhere or returned home. If you would have checked any of those tracking numbers, they would have been in exception. I'd be willing to bet the same or similar has happened with your pkg, especially if it was supposed to pass through the affected area.

I had something delayed three weeks during 9/11 :crying:
My sister had a package delayed for a week a couple months back because the building she lives in was partially destroyed by a crane that fell on it. She lives in NYC.

Usually weather related but in my experience it can also mean that it was seized and searched or that the sender recalled it..
"Unforeseen event" is a deliberately vague term. It could be weather. It could be in a trailer that's been misrouted. It could be misplaced (it happens). It could have been damaged in some way (possibly just the packing or possibly the item itself) and be in the custody of quality control. Etc.
