I went to the gun show today specifically to buy ammo from Georgia Arms. I always stock up ammo when they come to save a bit on shipping plus i get to look at everything else there. I walked around all three buildings and bought two ammo cans. Right before leaving i stopped by G-A table and bought my ammo. I needed ammo in 5 different calibers so i grabbed everything i wanted. I didn't add it up in my head first before they rang me up. The total came to $207. After he rang it up he put it all of the bags in one of my empty ammo cans and i got a small can of 7.62. I paid with my credit and left. I just went through it and thought something wasn't right. I added it up and it's really $171.50. The receipt isn't itemized and there is no way i can prove what i bought from them. What would you do? Chalk it up to a lesson learned and next time add it up in my head, or would you send them an email? They guy either hit the wrong number when adding it up or he didn't throw a couple bags in the box before he gave it back to me. I am in no way saying they intentionally did it. I have been buying from them for a long time and have always been happy. I'm just a bit PO'd because i waited to save $10 on shipping and ended up losing $35.

I think that you should let them know in much the same way that you told it here. It sounds like an honest mistake and we all make them. If they believe you great, if they don't I would hold no grudge because customers screw up too.

Chalk it up and don't make the same mistake twice.
I think we all have done something like this at one time or another. Perhaps an innocent mistake and probably so if they are as busy at show as lots of ammo merchants are.
If it were me, I would call the folks and let them know of mistake. You might get your money back, might not, but (since you asked) the FINAL determination of whether a transaction is correct or not always lies with the consumer, not the merchant.
Just my .02.
P.S. Then go shooting with all the ammo :)

What would you do if you were overcharged buying deodorant? Or concrete? Or anythin else you might buy.

Let them know and hope for the best but in the end your left holding the bag. Sorry man.

I would call them up, explain what happened, see if they will give you a refund. If not, don't push it and chalk it up to experience.

I understand that it is ultimately my responsibility since i was spending my money. I will email them and see what they say. Maybe he'll remember me since he asked me about the Husker (had on my game day t-shirt:supergrin:) game tonight and we had a brief conversation aside from the purchase. Thanks for all your input.
If the gun show is still on, go back with the receipt and explain the problem. And remember, Be polite, be respectful and have a plan for killing the saleman.

Silly goose.
You would go into Right Guard Forum or Concrete Block Forum and ask everyone there what you should do.

This is not just any other store. If i went in Target and bought something that was marked 2 dollars and they charged me 5 i could go back in there with a receipt and get my money back. This is a gun show with a flea market type setting. As i said before my receipt isn't isn't itemized and only shows the total. It's not as simple as hey, you charge me 20 for this and it's only 15. I guess you can't read. Some of you gave really good advise, others are just want to be a smartass.

SD, I think you are probably out of luck. However, I would try to explain it to GA as the others have suggested.
I have dealt with them both at the Raleigh show and through the mail and they are always very professional and seem to genuinely want to give good customer service.
I see you are in NC, too and what I have discovered with Georgia Arms is that the NC sales tax just about nullifies any savings on shipping, especially when you add in the cost of admission to the gun show.
About the only negative to buying through the mail is that I have noticed that their new ammo loaded with Gold Dot Hollow Points has nickel cases when you buy at the show, and when you get them by mail, they have brass cases.

I'd bring the problem to their attention, in a polite manner. It was likely an honest mistake, though with no way of proving what you bought, you probably have no recourse if they refuse to correct it.
Did you still beat the shipping costs? Admittedly, I didnt read the entire thread.
Have you seen the jump in prices lately? I haven't bought factory ammunition in a long time, but I ran into a guy today at a range I go to, he said he was paying $28.00 for a 100 rds of 9!!!! He even gave me his brass too!

Do they sell ammo cans? Maybe you bought them twice.

Call them and nicely explain your situation. Ask if there is anything they can do to help you. See what they say.
How did you pay? If you paid with a credit card, you can call them and dispute the difference only. It will then be their responsibility to prove the amount.
If the don't do anything for you then, and you don't have a credit card, you learned your lesson.

I sent them an email and explained the whole thing. I didn't even consider taxes like Steve0853 mentioned so the overcharge was more like 23 bucks. Maybe the guy left out a bag of gold dots. I know he didn't charge me for the cans because he asked me where i got them and how much i paid. He stated he used to work where they made them.
Like i said, i never really thought about taxes so thanks for ruining my justification. :tongueout:

It happens but it's worth talking to them for a big dollar amount like that.
Like that little bag of fried pork rinds that was in my last order from the local Oriental foor store. When I got home I noticed the tag on it that said $2.39:rofl: I chewed them very well, one at a time:supergrin: Noting like them imported fried pork rinds.............

As others, I was going to suggest this also. I have one question though. You keep saying that the guy may have left out some of the product you purchased. Don't you know what you bought?
Hope you're able to get this resolved.

Well Mr. Sunshine, GA is a store just like Target, and I'm sure if you contacted them, and explained the situation, the issue would be handled just like Target. You know, you give people advice on this board when they ASK for it, some people take it, other just just act like jackasses.

Call them up and explain politely what happened. If they refuse to do anything or get up on a high horse call your credit card company and tell them the story they will get it fixed. For the record GA did the same thing to me at Ladson last year supposed to be 500 rounds 9mm & 500 of .45 ended up short by 75 on the 9mm & 37 on the .45 they told me next time I ordered remind them of it. First & last time I bought from them at a show, as they were a little snotty with me on the phone. Visa charged them back the amount I was short.

My sentiments exactly and I always bring a calculator.
People, we're talkin' about $35.50 here. There's only one appropriate response.

MOre of a reson to buy from local gunstores and online, at least you have a receipt and can notice discrepancies.
Now the fault lays with you, even if you where trying to save on S&H and you had an ideal of what you "exepcted" due to that, how can a $35.00 difference +- go bay at the fleamarket style ammo buy?
It would have been different if it was 2 or 5 dollars but $35.00 out of 207 and some change vrs 171 and some change is quite a big "oops".
just my 2 cents

Figure in the 7-10 bucks you paid for the door also. I added it up after the last show and I saved a whole .85 by going to the show and purchasing remanufactured (reloads by any name) ammo vs. new ammo at wally-world or dicks.

You're right. I asked for advice and got a smartass comment from you. I should have just thanked you for it. GA does not have stores all over the country and Target does not set up tables at a gun show. It is my opinion that they are nothing like each other. Thanks again for your comment, *******.

Unless they are flat out lying, every bag i've bought from them says "new ammunition". Are you saying that is not true?

I don't see anything smartassed about my post. GA is a business, just like Target, whether they have multiple stores or not has nothing to do with it. Kimber doesn't have stores all over, but if you bought something from them that was deficient or you were overcharged, what would you do? The same ****ing thing you would do if you bought something from GA or Target and had that problem. You would contact the store and get it resolved.
Your welcome, *******.
