Well my deal went thru, out with the old in with the new.
Got the g30 in a ftf local trade today for my g17.I traded my g17,2 17rnd mags and 28rnds of 124+p GDJHP for a g30,2 9rnd mags,2 10rnds mags and 12 rnds of 230+p hornady tap ammo.
Here are the pics

I am by no means a photographer so the pics are not the best. The gun is clean inside and out, standard sights and 4 mags for my g17.
I feel it is a good trade.I cannot see how so many people said that it is a bit too wide in the grip.It fits me good even with the 9 rnd mags, with the 10rnd mags it is pure love.
You can see in the pics with the 10rnd mag in it that it fits me good. Also my booger hook is away from the trigger,it's on the outside of the guard.Safety first.Mag was unloaded that was inserted in the gun also.
The gun isn't as small as I thought it would be.I was expecting it to be like the 26.It is bigger, the grip is small but with the 9 or 10 rnd mag inserted it fits good.I gotta go and shoot it which will probably take a week or two since I am low on funds right now.I will make another thread for a range report when I finally shoot it.
I gotta go look for holsters now as I wanna CCW with this lil pig.Hopefully I can find some good info on holsters for the g30 w/rail.
I am sure you guys have seen this g30 a thusand or more times but I gotta show ya mine.Have a good day guys
Wow. I fondled one at "The Gun Room" last week, both the SF and the standard. Frankly I could not tell the difference. I have large hands so the standard would be just fine. Congratulations on the new purchase.
Congrats. I'd make that trade all day long. Your 30 looks as if it just came out of the box!

Man this thing is clean for sure.He said he estimated the round count to be around 500 rnds.Could of fooled me it is spotless inside.
Has the extended mag release and extended slide stop lever.
Locally this g30 new is $599 so with 2 extra mags, slide stop and mag release it would cost me close to $700 to buy it.
I only paid $449 for my g17 so I feel it was a great trade. He wanted a range gun and comp gun and I wanted a ccw piece. We both made out but I made out the best

I think its the best Glock made for ccw. I have had 4 and all worked 100%. I carry one now and have lots of fun shooting it. You will see Its tame for a compact 45. I like all Glocks but the 30 is it on a stick.

YEah I can;t wait to go and shoot it.I gotta put some ot in at work so I can afford the more expensive ammo.Hopefully I can shoot about 200rnds of fmj wwb and 100rnds of speer GDJHP 230grain out of it when I go.
I keep hearing this gun is tame and is very accurate.I cannot wait to go and shoot it.The ole lady likes the 30 more then the g17 I had, which is good. The only downside is she said it is heavier but she doesn;t have to tote it around I do

Congrats on buying the best .45 pistol on the market. You'll find that it's fun to shoot and can take plenty of abuse but continue firing flawlessly.

The G30 is a sweet shooter. I predict you'll love it even more after you take it for a test drive.

well hopefully I can find a good holster that wont take 6months in wait or $150 either.
I just got a 30 also and I'm very pleased with it.
I had recently ordered a Crossbreed Super Tuck and the 30 fits in it just fine. The holster was here in a few days which surprised me because it is left handed. It's comfortable and the price was right.

Fist holsters great prices.
Do not sell or trade this one.
This is the keeper.
Best of all Glocks! :wavey::wavey:
Congrats! You're gonna like this one. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I shot this gun; prior to that, I've always been a 9mm man. Judging from the photos, your hands are bigger than mine; you shouldn't have problem with the grip or the recoil. Have fun.

Well done. I traded for my G30 and it's a sweet shooting .45. It is a little thicker, but that's to be expected. I carry mine in a medium Smartcarry and it works wonderfully.

I can't find pics of people using the smart carry with the g30.
The ole google doesn''t always bring up what I want.
I would really like to see some of these carry rigs with the g30 in it on body so I can see how they look.If anyone wants to be the ole holster model and post pics of yourself carrying the g30 I'd appreciate it.

I neglected to mention, I carry with my SC rotated around to about 3:30 with the grip above the waistline. The waistline of my jeans covers the trigger.

I whitnessed a reload blow up a G30 in a customers face last week... Lets just say there was lots of blood and the guy went to the hospital...
Other than that-the G30 is a great weapon...

If they made a G30SF with a grip the same length as a G19 I'd buy one. Until then they don't work for me very well.

Congrats! Great gun. I love mine. Try opticsplanet.com. They have tons of holsters at good prices and free shipping if I remember right. Fast delivery as well. I shoot 200+P Gold Dots out of mine. Very accurate, and you know they'll do the job on any BG, no matter how big or doped up he is.

I just picked one up myself so congrats.
Have you decided what ammo you will be carrying for concealed carry? I saw you mentioned Gold dots, after my last experience I am kinda timid to carry them. Right now I am deciding between 165gr +P Corbon OR 185gr. Remington Gold Sabers
This is the holster I just ordered, http://www.mitchrosen.com/product_line/product_line.html
http://www.mitchrosen.com/product_line/holsters/express_line/uplnewexp.jpg
Very nice, and very tight holster. I also ordered a full detail holster the USD, but with the break in period, and order time I got that one for now.

why are you timid about the gold dots? Can you fill me in please.
My local PD uses the gold dots, they feed reliably out of my g30 when I hand cycle it.
I know I shouldn't hand cycle it but the gun is always pointed in a safe direction when I do it so no-one will get hurt.
I hand cycled the **** outta the gold dots today to see if they would jam up and I had no problems.I hav no problems with them out of my g17 I had.I shot that gun as fast as I possibly could with those rnds,i even shot it slow and medium speed to see if they would jam and they didn't.
I like the profile of the gold dot,it seems to just slide right in the chamber for me.
Not to mention the gold dot in 45auto is something else.I looked at them in the 9mm but they were small. On the 45auto the gold dot cavity is huge.It looks like an ashtray sitting there waiting to go flying thru the air.It is one mean looking bullet in 45acp.
I am seriously playing hell finding a holster that I like and fits my gun.At the local shop they had some holsters in but only one of them would fit my g30 w/rail.
SO I looked at alot of them and liked some of the galco holsters but they did not make them for my g30.
I may just end up getting one from brock @ bluegrass or a mtac.I have no damn clue right now but I need to make up my mind on one so I can save up for it and send out the cash.I still need to do my ccw class and get my permit.I just wanna have my holster before I do the class so I can carry it when I am done and get my license.

The reason I am timid about carrying Gold Dots is because when I bought my G30. I picked up two boxes of Speer Lawman 230gr FMJ training ammo, and two boxes of Speer Gold Dot 185gr GDHP.
I ran the two boxes of Speer Lawman through with out one problem. Great accuracy, recoil was minimal, worked really well. Then I moved on to the Gold Dots, I had four failure to fire's with clean heavy primer strikes. Out of a fifty round box, four ftf's, I opened the second box. Continued on running drills, three more ftf's out of the second box.
I am not a LEO, or first responder. So I might never have to draw my gun in a conflict, but I don't know that and neither do you. So I don't want that one time to be the time I have a problem.

Yah that is why I haven't spent any money on firearms till now. I have been saving to buy this gun and one of those holsters. I fell in love when I handled one at the range one day. Probably the best holster ever in my opinion.
Nice rig -- accurate, concealable, the best!

I never thought that holster shopping would be harder then buying a gun.
THis is worse then going shopping with the ole lady seriously
Congratulations! I also traded for a G30 this week with a little customization to it. Looking forward to shooting it some time in the next couple of days. Here's mine:

What mfg is that slide or is it a glock slide with a new finish?
It looks nice but is a bit much for carry.Gotta love the g30
I went to the g30 section here on the forum and that thing is slow moving like the bulets that come out of it.
We gotta get the g30 section moving guys

Congrats Bman, I just picked up my Glock 30 a couple of days ago.
After doing a lot of comparisons, I decided it's one of the best possible choices for a concealable .45 that still has decent mag capacity. There are other good .45 compacts, but the G30 seems to be tops for holding the most ammo, in the smallest & lightest package, at a good-to-excellent price.

I think the moral of that story is,
Read the owner's manual and pay close attention to the section that advises using only "HIGH QUALITY COMMERCIALLY MANUFACTURED AMMUNITION...",
and specifically warning against the use of reloads.

I wouldn't go that far.
The moral is to make damn sure that any and all ammunition to be fired is trustworthy. No gun show guy reloads. No reloading while any other distraction of any kind is present. Things of that nature.
And, of course, always wear safety glasses while shooting.
And recognize when it is the fault of the ammunition and not the gun. If you blow up a Glock with a low pressure round such as .45ACP you have to automatically presume the ammunition to be faulty unless proven otherwise. It's the only logical conclusion based on the information given.

It's cheaper so I get more practice but the main reason I started reloading was the same reason I started doing my own work on my Harley. It got to the point where I realized that I care more about my behind than the guy at the dealer/factory. I got the bike back too many times with things done halfway that I figured I would rather learn what I needed to know and take the responsibility myself. I'm careful, use high quality components and never go for hotter loads than the manuals list. So far so good. Plus I get the satisfaction of a job well done and it gives me a little corner of my world where I have complete control of my decisions. I like it.
Grounded CLK - good choice on the holster. I have an ARG Slim coming for my G30 in a week or two. Can't wait. I have one for my 1911 and I love it. Rosen makes great stuff - I just can't afford much of it. That's ok. Small gun collections are easier to sell to my better half.
