View Full Version : Yay or Nay?
Not sure if this thread belongs here or not, but has anyone had any problems with "CCI Blazer Ammunition 40 S&W 180 Grain Full Metal Jacket"? I heard to stay away from it, especailly with 40cal Glocks..
"CCI Blazer Ammunition combines a non-reloadable aluminum case with high value and high performance. It is the perfect practice and training ammunition. This ammunition is new production and non-corrosive."
And will the non-reloadable case cause any problems? sounds like if its non-reloadable, it must be cheap made.
Thanks

It'll be fine. Its non-reloadable cause its berdan primed, where reloadable brass is boxer primed.
Glock uses a lot of Blazer in Smyrna, GA. Shoot as much of it as you can afford.
Thanks guys.. Which is better... Blazer or Wolf?

IMHO Blazer.
Thanks donut slayer.. I was reading the reviews on the Blazer ammo, and this was posted..
"I have shot about 300 rounds of the .40 S&W 180 gr aluminum Blazer ammo through my G23, and never had any issues. Then I had my first failure to feed, and after ejecting the round and looking at it, I was shocked to see the bullet pushed into the case over 1/8 inch. I have never encountered this with a cartridge before, and it scared the heck out of me. If I had fired that round, there would have been a severe over-pressure situation and I could have experienced the dreaded Glock "KaBoom". No more regular Blazer ammo for me - no way! I will continue to buy and use the comparable Blazer Brass. I strongly encourage everyone to carefully look at any "fail to feed" round before trying to light it off again. It would be better to toss it than damage your firearm!"
That kinda spooked me, but I guess it can happen with any ammo manufacturer.

I've shot thousands of rounds of blazer. It's relatively clean, and runs the gun well. Buy it with confidence. If I had to choose between wolf and blazer I'd chose blazer.
I just bought 1000 rounds for $270. Is that an alright price for practice ammo?
Thanks guys.. Which is better... Blazer or Wolf?
Blazer > Wolf
$270 for 1000 comes to $13.50/50rd box. A little steep for aluminum Blazers. I went to WM and got the BlazerBrass 180's for $12.47/50rd box.
These were $12.68 50rd box, but gotta add the shipping...soooo ya.
Your best choices for inexpensive practice ammo, in no particular order, are:
1. Blazer
2. Winchester USA
3. American Eagle
I can't find regular blazer in my neck of the woods... All we have is blazer brass. Which is better and cheaper from what I can see. It's about the only target load I put thru my g23.
Thanks guys.. Which is better... Blazer or Wolf?
Blazer by a mile!
There is nothing wrong with Blazer, in fact it's some of the best stuff you can use. Whoever told you otherwise was wrong.

Yes it can happen with any manufacturer and in my experience, blazer has had the best QC of any range ammo I've used.
I've put hundreds of thousands of rounds of Blazer downrange with very few issues.....and competed with it almost exclusively for three years.

if you go to http://natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=CC3509&src=tpMfg you can buy Blazer for $7.99 a box. I usually lay out a bit more and get the 115gr american eagle. I have shot 1000's of rounds of Blazer with no issues though. I think, as long as you don't chamber/re-chamber you should be fine.
ETA: OOps.... I just realized you were looking for .40 cal. Those are about $13.39 for the 180gr... now I remember why I shoot 9mm 80% of the time anymore. ;)
Lots of Blazer beer can in .45 goes through my 21s.

Blazer! Stay away from Wolf ammo! IMHO

While many people have reported considerable satisfaction with Blazer ammo, there have been reports of bullet setback. Given the consequences of this issue, I believe it would be prudent to check each round before firing.
