If I got a class II license (assuming anyone can get one) could I make new automatic firearms to use myself? I have heard that you can only sell them to class III dealers and LE officers. Any help would be great.
P.S. I am asking because I recently bought a new AK-47 and would like to know more about the Class II license and what is involved in getting one.

You most certainly can do so! You can make all the full autos that you desire. However, if you ever decide not to renew your license, you must destroy the receiver, sell the gun to a police department or other qualified entity, or "donate" (surrender) the gun to the feds.
A final option is selling it to another Class III dealer. However, keep in mind that they legally can't buy post-'86 manufacture weapons without a letter of interest from a police department. Thus, no sales unless some police department wants a "demo" of the weapon.
So, unless you're prepared to give the feds $500.00 per year to keep your license PLUS whatever it costs for a business license in your locale, forget it.

Do you have to have a business to get a Class II license or can an individual get one too?

You don't have to have a business when you get your Class 2 manuf. license you will now be starting a business.

I always thought a Class 2 manufactoring license allowed you to build suppressors and short barreled weapons. Wouldn't a Class 3 manufactoring license be neded to build full auto weapons?

Partially true, Brachialstun .
A Class II is a manufacturer [and dealer] of any Title II item but a destructive device. A Class III is a dealer of any Title II item but a destructive device. Class III's can't manufacture anything, unless it's for personal use. (See below.)
You don't need any license to manufacture any Title II weapon other than a machinegun [as it's past the May 19, 1986 cutoff date]. You, as a normal individual, may make your own suppressor, short-barreled whatever, AOW, or destructive device after you get federal approval. However, if you do it as a business or for profit, it's a different story.
