I went to my local shop today and overheard an employee speaking to a customer about "slam firing" and how Glocks were more prone to this phenomenon than other guns. I asked the employee what happens. He said that when the slide is racked a round could fire. What is this all about?! Sounds like B.S..

Something hitting the primer, before/as the round is chambered. It's possible in any firearm, but I've never seen it happen in a Glock. And I've seen several hundred thousand rounds run through at least 200+ Glocks over the years. But it's possible.

I've seen exactly ONE out-of-battery detonation in Glock. At 'unload and show clear' he ejected the round into a cupped palm, and managed to close the slides ejection port on the primer of the round he was ejecting. He cussed a lot.

Don't do that.

A common malfunction among those who glue the striker in the forward position after removing the firing-pin safety. But why do that, unless you're an idiot?

Unless it is broke, a GLOCK only goes BOOM when you use your booger hook.

I've heard every kind of excuse on the planet on ND's and if you get right doen to it, it is always the users fault.

99.99999% the moron holding it is wrong.

Slam fires can occur in firearms with free-floating firing pins like the Garand, M14, M16.

The Glock has a spring-loaded firing pin.

Slam fires always occur with a Thompson.

I agree, not an issue on modern Glocks. However wasn't this an issue with early Glocks back in the day?

This is total BS! I've owned Glocks for years and fired thousands of rounds and this never ocurred.
