I have recently been told that the new Sky Marshalls are being issued Sig P229s in .357 Sig. If true, then I have a couple of questions.

1) Why this caliber? Wouldn't another "slower" round be better on an airplane? (I don't actually know what the issue load would be.)

2) Why the Sig? I know its always been a top choice for federal law enforcement, but does this signal a trend towards Sig and away from Glock?

2 reasons, as for the caliber it achieves higher velocity/energy than a +p+ 9mm without having to jump though hoops to buy. As for the Sig pistol, he who comes in with the lowest bid gets the contract.

I think they are going to be using Sinterfire bullets http://www.sinterfire.com/newsandevents.html BTW, I use these bullets for certain applications and they do work as advertised.
