Steve, all the model 97s are Premier Grades. The larger model 83 comes in both Premier and Field Grade.

The Premiers are definitely worth the extra $400 or so. The fit and finish is much nicer, IMO.

FA revolvers are the best SA revolvers on the market. You would have to spend big bucks sending your Ruger to a custom smith to equal a Freedom Arms.

Silly me. Why would you own field grade when there's something nicer available?

No question about the Ruger. I will say that my Blackhawk has a much tighter cylinder gap than my Smiths (.002" vs .006" average). They fit them during production and number them so they stick with that specific frame. Nice touch for a mass produced revolver.

Then there is my baby, the old Model 15 357 Magnum VH6 (6") that is just starting to have a turn ring. The gun is pictured with new VH6 shroud instead of the V6 (partial lug) shroud it came with.
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x245/oldnavy6393/DAN12.jpg

Besides the heavy barrels being better looking, I like the extra weight of the heavy barrels for range shooting. All the 8" guns have optional 6" barrels, the model 15 6" also has a 4" barrel.

Thank you sir!

I agree, they are pretty, but I have some plain walnuts I put on it for shooting, the stags are right rough.....even for shooting the .30!

Lovely looking guns fellas
There's just something special about a revolver that you just can't get with any Auto
My favorite carry guns are S&W J Frames
One or both of these 9mm snubbies get carried always..
The Airweight has been very handy lately since it's been warmer..

A true classic, and in fine shape, too!

You even got the nice rounded-bottom-edge grips; MUCH more comfortable to use if you want/need to wrap your pinky-finger around the bottom of the grip frame while shooting.

Thanks. The NY, DAO, is UNFIRED!!!!!!!!! Guy I got it from didn't know a thing about it. I paid $400:cool::cool::cool:

The 2 with adjustable sights were a limited production for Ashland, they made 660 of them. They were both NIB with papers. I had to give $650 each for them but with the limited production I couldn't pass them up.

I don't drink, do drugs, go to strip clubs, or gamble. I am a 100% disabled Vet so money is an issue. I stick a few bucks a week back and go to auctions, and gun shows looking for QUALITY pieces. I am a collector in the $400-$700 range, as opposed to the SSA guys, Python guys, 1911 guys, or Lugar guys. Heck last show I was at I saw a guy with 2/1/2, 4. 6. and 8 inch nickel Pythons all with ivory grips, in a BEAUTIFUL display case. I didn't bother to ask the price.:wow:

It is a fun hobby that you can get into with just a little savings, and some legwork. Pick a model you like and go hunting for them. That is a lot of fun. Good luck!:wavey:

You are right there bac, if Dirty Harry movies made people want the .44 magnum, then Magnum Force definetly made a statement for the 4 inch Python. Back when I first got into law enforcement the Assistant Chief that I worked under carried one, he carried it right up to about 2000 when the department bought us Glocks. I always felt a little puny with my GP100 if I shot next to him on the line.

You really need a nice 50s model Brian, perfect capper to the collection.

I agree, Cody.

I wince everytime I think about the early '56 model in top condition that I let get away. :crying:

That sounds like a tough one to live down. I guess since I've got a 60s and 70s model, I could use a 50s model myself, gonna be hard for me to find a nice one in my price range though.

Recently got a couple 'newbs'......

A 1967 vintage model 10-6 in nickel:

And slightly used .45 Vaquero in polished stainless:

Naturally, I had to take some new family pics:

Nice pix of nice guns, Butch.

I can't remember the last time I was in touching distance of a nickeled M10 (or any K-frame, for that matter).

*sigh*

Maybe I could polish-up a stainless one? Ahhhh....it's just not the same.
