I just got an new Weatherby in 25-06. I got to get her sighted in yet, hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone use one for deer?

I think I am going to give it a try this year.

It's a little smaller than I like, but should do just fine. It's got more punch than a .243, and people have been using them for years with no problems. I still prefer my .270 though.

I did the same thing, I ended up with a Tikka 25.06. Usually I use a 30.06 but for some reason I had a itch for the 25. Great round that will kill deer with milder recoil. Try the 120 Grain Winchester Positive Expanding Points (PEP). Esox357.

The only ammo they had on the shelf was Rem. core-lokt and Win. super-X. I picked up a box of 120 gr. each. I reloaded come 117 Gr. Siearra Porhunter's. I am curios to see how well they shoot.

I am hoping I can get this thing to drive tacks so I can take it to a turkey shoot Sunday.

Most 25.06 will drive tacks! I am looking at components to use for my hunting loads. I have decided to try the 120 Hornady HP's, H4831SC, Fed primers, and Win Brass. I will have to see what it can do? Esox357.

I made it to the range this morning. Here's the results from my last 150 yard setup. I ran out of time and had to stop for the day.

The first 2 shots on this one were Win factory loads and the last four were my relaods.

I am going to work on it some more in the morning. I think it just needs a few more rounds to break everything in and season the bbl and she will tighten up a bit, I hope. :dunno:

Here is the last on from my .270. Again at 150. First two factory and the last my reloads.

You may want to try the core lokts or fusion if you can find some? Shots three and four looked good, what happened to shots 5 and 6? Keep on it, I know that rifle will shoot! Also for your reloads what powder did you use? Esox357.

If those are 1" squares on the target, and he is shooting at 150 yards shots 3-6 are barely over an inch apart.

That's not a bad group.

But it might have been the wind, also might have something touching the barrel as it warms up. Check to make sure it is free floated, even when warmed up.

Had a Steyr Mountain Rifle in 25-06 when I was still hunting. Wish I had it back too. VERY sweet round in my opinion. Could shoot it all day enjoyably!! You'll be happy with that rascal! Mine grouped just as good as my Stery SSG, which I was shocked by.

The 25.06 is my medium game go-to rifle. Mine is a Win Model 70 Coyote in 25 WSSM which has the same balistics as the 25.06. Mine shoots the Win Supreme 87 and 115 gr BSTs very well.

While I don't own anything chambered for that caliber, I have some experience with the .25-06. Super hot long range coyote round, accurate as hell, and plenty of medicine deer and Black Bear to boot! Now if only the ammo were cheaper, maybe I'd buy one...

I have a Remington Mountain Rifle in 25-06 and it is like flipping a switch on deer with a 100 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip (my reloads).
