View Full Version : Unusual primer marks?
Went out to shoot my 33 for the first time (Which, I may add, I LOVE IT!!). On my primers, instead of the usual pinpoint primer strike, it's more elongated, (looks more like a "smear")
I read an article before that described it and it's causes, but for the life of me, I can't remember it.
Anybody?
PS~ If needed, I can get a d-cam photo of it posted....

THAT'S NORMAL
Glock firing pin has elogated form - it's not round at the tip and so the primer strike isn't a pinpoint mark.
ARMED & WELL IS RIGHT. SMEAR IS A GOOD TERM.....MY WIFE IS A GLOCK ARMORER AND BUILT UP MY G-33 WITH A WOLFF RECOIL REDUCTION SYSTEM, TITANIUM STRIKER-SAFETY PLUNGER WITH A 3.5 CONNECTOR. I HAD IT PORTED BY LEADING EDGE TOOL. WITH A 90 GRAIN BULLET & AA#9 POWDER THE THING CAN BE SHOT SO FAST IT SOUNDS LIKE FULL AUTO! I CAN'T WAIT TO CHRONOGRAPH THE LOAD.GET THE PEARCE MAG EXTENSIONS TO HELP HOLD ON TO YOUR NEW ROCKET! ENJOY!;I

yeah, the firing pin used in glocks is not round on the tip like most firing pins so it leaves a different mark. Perfectly normal.
I never noticed it on any of my other Glocks...I guess I never examined the primer that close (I don't know what made me notice on this particular trip...). As long as it's common, I wont sweat it.
I have never seen elongated primer strikes on any of the G19s, G23s or G20s that we routinely fire regardless of the ammo used. Have seen it on one G21 of a fellow shooter, though. Didn't like it.
