There are a very limited number of things that will get you escorted out of the house (TOS) and most of them involve some version of not taking a dump where you eat (A lesson even a wild dog knows). So, how is it so many grown men and women do not know this very simple life lesson? Don't bite the host and don't crap on his floor and you will be welcome indefinitely!!!

Well, I understand from some comments I have already heard, that PlaneJane has had quite a lot to say on what happened. I very seldom discuss such things in public, but I am going to make an exception this time. This is going to be the last I have to say on this subject.

Yesterday, a member here used a workaround to post several bad words in a post, in one of the private social groups. He went on to make light of the fact that 'one of the girls of GT' had showed him how and was busy trying to make herself a pain in my rear. I have been aware of of this bad word filter workaround for years, but have never done anything to counter it because no one seemed to be using it and it just didn't seem worth messing with. When I saw this poster's comments, I decided that if this workaround was being used in an organized fashion, I had better find out how and where.

The database here is not very big compared to database's for many businesses, but it is still more than 6GB. There isn't a program mechanism to search across the entire database and the search functionality we do have would have a problem finding the workaround in text, because it only searched formatted text, and the server resources it uses would crash the site. So, I went to my backup server and used a UNIX/Linux search command, called GREP, to search a database dump of the site. A DB dump file is the entire structure and data from the site, in one large file. A grep search will crawl the file and return every line that it finds a match on, by default.

I grep'ed the db dumpfile backup of GT for a bad word with the workaround replied and I got several threads in which the workaround had been used as returns. I also got a large number of PM message lines returned, in which PlaneJane was telling other members how to use the workaround. The quoted text in those lines spoke volumes about other things as well. PlaneJane had some pretty despicable things to say about me, as well as other members here and she was using the PM system to organize others to go after other members she doesn't like.

I liked PJ when she first signed up, but shortly thereafter, she got sideways with me because she kept going after someone she said hated women. I tried many, many times to get her to put the guy on her ignore list and ignore him, if she didn't like him, but she wouldn't do it. Her obsession with the guy bordered on pathological, in my opinion. I very nearly had to ban her, after close to a dozen warnings, before she finally agreed to let it go. She had brushes with other people, who she was also convinced hated women, and was warned several more times about those outbursts, but I thought she had finally settled down and let the matters go.

It wasn't until yesterday that I discovered what she has really been up to. What I discovered yesterday is that instead of going after these guys herself, she has been cheering on, egging on and organizing others to go after them, on her behalf. She even went so far as to send someone the text of what she wanted them to post for her, so it would not be seen as coming from her. Folks, I am not going to have crap like this on my site.

I know many of you know and like this woman and I liked here as well, at one point. She has shown me a different face though than the one she kept on display here. I don't care what she thought or said of me, but to work to subvert my wishes and to continue to foment trouble with people she didn't like here is completely over the top and this is why she was banned.

I discovered what I did because I was looking for a specific problem, expecting to find threads and posts where the problem occurred. The fact that I instead found PlaneJane's PM's instead is because of her own activities. I was completely up front with her about how and why I found her messages and about why she was banned. Folks, I do not have the time, energy or desire to ready anyone's PM's, but the PM system here is not the US Mail. Using this system to try to subvert my wishes and the TOS here is pretty freaking stupid, in my opinion. Anyway, I understand that PJ is busy playing the martyr now, but she is not the stuff that martyrs are made of. I think she is probably a good person basically, but her behavior here more than earned her what she got.

BTW, I have given the subject of bad words in PM's, and this workaround, some thought and here is what I have come up with: If you guys want to use bad language in your PM's and both parties are ok with it, have at it. I am not going to turn off the bad word filter in the PM system, but if you want to use this workaround (Those of you using it know what I mean) or other means to bypass the bad word filter in PM's, have at it. Make damned sure that you know who you are using it with is ok with it though. If anyone complains about your use of profanity in a PM, I will treat it just as I would if you used it publicly on the site. And that's all I have to say about that. Eric
