I'm fairly young, so old timey to me is 60's or before. It was hard for me to pick because i love so much of that music.. but i had to pick this, certainly isn't the best but it gives me the best feeling. Was either this or little wing, or any song by CCR.

Old Time music by definition predates bluegrass and is full of repititous fiddle and mandolin breaks, with folk lyrics. Think "Cotton Eyed Joe" or "Napoleon's March".
Lately I'm really loving Fred Eaglesmith's new CD "Tinderbox". Very old timey, but also includes some searing yet subtle slide guitar and organ.

Amazing Grace and the story behind it.
Green Sleeves which shares the music with "What Child Is This?" was written in something like the year 1380. Thats old.

I am NOT a hippie... I am not sure if they are 60's or 70's, but some old Grateful Dead stuff is really good.
Of course some of the early metal stuff from the 1970's is great.

And one for my mom...she's his biggest fan.
JLL lives about 5 miles from my house. He still rocks out on the piano.
