Smart Phone Question

Okay, I just switched from a Blackberry Pearl to a Blackberry Curve, and I cannot figure out the logic used to configure the keyboard. The Curve, and every other phone with a full keyboard, seem to have the numbers shifted completely to the left. I've only been using this phone for two days, but it seems like it would have made more sense to center them across the keyboard. Am I missing something? Is there a reason whey they are all to the left? Thanks for any info!

Maybe because most are right handed, and one hand dialing (with the thumb) is easier that way?

One handed use for dailing and they figure most people hold the phone with the left?

I dunno, my smart phone is smarter...my numbers are across the top of the keyboard in text mode and big and centered in phone mode
