Nada, went with the wife to IHOP for dinner. Then we went to Walmart and when I found Blazer Brass 9mm for $8.88 a box and .45acp for $14.88 a box, the wife let me buy a case of each. :wow:

And, I got a new reel for my freshwater fishing rod.

All in all, it was a good evening.

How's 'bout yours?

Wow, your wife let's you buy ammo without yelling? I'm stunned, I have to sneak it into the house... :whistling: It was a good birthday, not wildly exciting but good enough!

My shooting habit is cheap to feed compared to her and my son's hobbies.

They do barrel racing on horses. And it seems there is a horse show every weekend. We have two horses (a Palomino and an Appaloosa) so boarding, feeding, saddles, tack, trailers, their clothes, memberships, etc., etc. so my shooting habit is a drop in the bucket to that.

Plus, my wife is a keeper if she has put up with me this long. :embarassed:

Our motto is, "she gets a horse...I get a gun". She owes me one.

I'm waiting to shoot you Saiga before I decide.

Ahh, the secret there is that my wife's hobbies don't count! Her motto is, "What's your's in mine, and what mine is mine!" Makes it much easier to sort out what belongs to who...

I'd get the Saiga, worst case you should be able to unload it for more than you paid for it. We're running about $600 right now but when this shipment dries up it'll go up again...

Tyler participated in only his second horse show Saturday afternoon and placed 2nd in his class and won $138.00. :horse:

Saturday morning, I won the Production Class at my weekend steel shoot. There were 37 other shooters and I got a plaque and $50.00. I shot my G17 in PC and I shot my HK USP.45 in the Large Bore Class. I placed 12th in that class.

Somewhere, up there, my Pop (my grandfather) is smiling down on us. :winkie:

Yup, when I started reading the Saiga forum and looking at them they were up to $250.00. I dithered for a while like you're doing before I bought my first one and wound up paying $400.00 for it. After I got it in my hands and decided I really liked them and waited for the next shipment to come in it was up to $460.00 for that one.

Mother Russia only ships them a few times a year and prices will drop right around the time they come in then they go up. They were selling for $800.00 a piece up on GunBroker before the last shipment came in. If you catch this wave of sales which is almost gone you can still get $600.00 or better prices if you catch them from a gun dealer who really doesn't know what he has. Some folks have been walking into pawn shops and getting them for $500.00 but you might have to do quite a bit of searching for that price.

If you want a great conversion, Tromix is opening up their list on October 1st. It's expected to close again by October 5th when Tony estimates he'll have work through 2010. It's about an 8 month wait if you're the first guy in on October 1.

Are you talking about the Saiga 12? They're sweet, but not in my budget at present. I bought two 7.62X39 Saigas with the 16" barrel, and plan to buy at least one more before the next stinking ban goes into place. I'm concentrating on buying them OEM for now, and hoping that conversion parts will still be available. If not, and the doo doo ever hits the fan, the bullet guides are pretty easy to improvise from what I hear, and I have right at 43 new Bulgarian military mags, plus a few other assorted commie bloc mags. I'll probably pick up about 20 more Bulgy steel mags while they're still cheap.

Yup, I have three Saiga-12's now, one normal and two class 3. I've only seen one of the Saiga 7.62X39's which Atlantic Firearms shipped to me incorrectly. That was a conversion done by Red Jacket. Man, it was beautiful! I wish I could take the caliber proliferation, I'd sign up for one in a second but I'm trying to keep it to one type of rifle ammo at a time right now...
