Does anyone know of a good 1911 gunsmith in Northern VA (I'm in Loudoun County)?

I use Dan Rivenbark. His shop is about 15 miles north of Fredricksburg. It would be a trip for you, but I guarantee he's worth it. What are you looking to have done?

I ordered a new grip safety and mainspring housing for my Colt defender and need them installed. Also want to swap out the mainspring housing on my Dan Wesson CBOB and have the front strap buffed down a bit (the checking is so sharp it's like a cheese grater).

Do you have contact info for Dan?

Dan's number is 540 659 3037. VERY conscientious.

Give the guys at VA Arms a call. They are in Manassas.

I was under the impression that they didn't do much work. Have they worked on anything for you? If so who in particular?

Thanks for the suggestion on Northern Virginia Gun Works. I Googled them and can see that they have a great reputation in this area. I'm going to call them Monday.

Northern Virginia Gun Works has a reputation of being very, very slow.

And they are very overpriced in my opinion.

If all you need is parts installed, you can try M&M Gunsmithing in Alexandria, VA.

To have the checkering buffed down, I would recommend you find a very competent 1911 smith. You might want to send it back to Dan Wesson if they do custom work.
