Just thought I would share this with you guys. I went to see this with my wife last night. It is one of the best movies I have seen in years. I think it is a great movie as it shows morals and how we should treat each other as husband and wife.

If the whole movie is like the trailer, I'll pass. Looks like one of those husband-wrong, wife-right movies.
It's not. It's well balanced.

Possibly. But I predict this thread will get moved.

Good tip! I think this is one of those movies you better go see with your wife... because if she sees it without you, you're doomed! :wow:
Wife and I watched it last night. Wanted to see righteous kill but "the lady at church said this was a great movie for couples". She sealed the deal by saying it had some cool fire fighting scenes.....it didn't.
All in all its just a movie about accepting Jesus and working on problems with married couples. I'd recommend the watch but on DVD. I don't like spending $20 to see a PSA type movie.
Kirk Cameron? I'm a Christian yeah, but I still haven't liked anything this guy has done that I've seen. Plus, I'm not married so there is really little reason to see this.
I hope it is a good movie and that it helps some people who may need help.
Other than that, meh.
Pesticidal, what was the problem with the movie? I'm trying to understand why you would say that something like this isn't appropriate.
It's actually a movie with a good message, some positive ways on how to look after your marriage. I'm a little lost as to why you gave it a hard time.
Thanks.

Looks like a made for TV movie.......but I'll watch it when it if it ever comes on cable.

While I am not a Christian, I certainly see the message in the movie and it's not a bad message in today's world (although the Christian angle is not something I would orient to but no problem). Cameron is a well known and affirmed Christian and that's fine but if you see him in a movie, you should expect a Christian message.

Chick Flick.
Yup...
They would love it on Oprah. And solution to marriage woes are (of course) husband is supposed to treat woman like a queen, give her whatever she wants, assume homemaker duties... placating to her whims.
and of course, quoting the trailer "A man has to be a Hero to his wife to be a REAL man".
Jeez... maybe she (the wife) is responsible for making the marriage better too??
If you ask me the problems I've seen with MOST marriages is that the wives have become spoiled and self-obsessed (thanks Oprah) and they are both demanding of the male (make more money, do more housework) yet resentful. We do NOT need yet more cinematic tripe telling women that having an unreasonable sense of entitlement PLUS being a cold-hearted, demanding partner is the way to be.
Watching the trailer... what sacrifices/changes/gestures of love did SHE have to make?

Maybe everyone should just see the whole movie without being a trailer critic. It shows both sides and doesn't by any means push for a woman to be whatever some of you guys claim it is. I am not saying all marriage is the same but I have seen alot of couples in my day where the man thinks if he just makes a paycheck and mow's the grass he has done more than enough. This movie hits on some great points and is far better than alot of Hollywood trash we get these days.

I just saw it with my wife today. I liked the movie. My wife enjoyed it probably more than I did. I don't mind seeing a movie with a positive message and sense of morality. Seems like this movie is getting quite a bit of the GT marriage hate quota. If you watch the movie you will see that husband and wife were in the wrong. In my eyes, this was not a typical "everybody loves raymond" smart beautiful wife, big dumb mean husband hit piece.
BTW, some of the acting was pegging the cheese meter for a bit in the beginning. but felt it improved after the first 5 to 10 minutes.

Facing the Giants was an awesome movie! I added it to my Netflix queue. (What an odd word that is.)

Heard the guys that did this on the radio yesterday. Not a chick flick. Not anti-guy.
What I DO know is that most guys think that going to work and earning a paycheck is sufficient effort in a marriage. Then they sit in front of the computer or X-box all night and wonder why they don't connect with their SO.
The movie shows that you do your job - even when the other partner F's up. Lessons we can all learn from the movie.

It looks like a good film, but I/we feel the fire service doesnt need any more movies or exposure.
Why not? Everybody loves the hoseheads! :)

I think the public is tired of seeing "Firefighters" and "heros", etc. Professional Firefighter just rather do their job and go home. We dont need anymore spot light time.

FWIW, it's WHEY of the Master. It's a diet and exercise program.
I supply emotional stability, a slight majority of the financial aspects, protection, physical labor and a "teamwork" attitude.
She supplies rationality, a very significant portion of our combined income, creativity, "not-so-physical" labor, a "teamwork" attitude and a hot bod...
It pretty much equals out in the end.
My advice? DATE/MARRY women who you want to be FRIENDS with and BANG the ones you don't.
It's really pretty simple...

I can't believe nobody mentioned this movie was actually kind of funny too. The parts with the trash can and the neighbor, and the Tabasco were great. The guy came off as being a little harder to deal with than the wife, but they both had their destructive habits that needed to break.

Lighten up francis. We hear it all the time how we're big jerks (or other fine language) while the hoseheads are all special. But I agree, the slew of firefighter hero movies was getting a bit much for awhile.
