Im looking for a good defense load for my girls ruger lcp. I want to use a good solid bullet like the buffalo bore 100 gr. hardcast FMJ flat nose thats running at 1000+ fps (claims buffalo bore). Is this my best option or are there better FMJ's out there. And please, dont suggest JHP's. :whistling: Thanks.
I'm with you, JHPs don't make much sense in these pocket pistols.
I am still using Santa Barbara FMJ, but you can't buy those anywhere these days - super hot round though.
I would go with Buffalo Bore as you mentioned, failing that some of the European .380 may be a little hotter (Fiocchi, Sellier & Bellot), US mass produced .380 factory ammo is like our economy - weak.

and does anyone know wich would be better? Hard cast or FMJ?
I like the euro balls in 380 and 32 they are alot hotter than US stuff I carry Fiochii in my P32 love it. Some Fiochii is made in states the 10 boxes I got say made in Italy and are hotter than the american stuff I have shot

95gr hydra-shok in my Sig.
How big is you GF and would she be able to shoot something with that much recoil?
Remington Golden Sabers 102grain and shows both good penetration and real good expansion in tests.
There was a test by Gatorhugger which showed the heavyweights into meat but it no longer has much listed at Ruger Forum.
Here is his test into chicken,
