Watchin Shooting USA,All the pros were using 9 for the light & laser match, thoughts

I was Watching Shooting USA and sighting in, All the pros were using 9mm for the New Light & Laser match! New trend/thoughts?

Seems to me more and more folks are going 9mm whether it be in competition or Self Defense. I am wrong in this observation and do you think it's a good thing?

competition shooters use a 9 when there is no power factor to worry about and take advantage of lower cost for ammo or reloading supplies and less recoil. it's nothing new. most competitive shooters that have a PF advantage use a .40 except in the open guns where you'll see a lot of 38 supers.
