Why are 357/.38 Lever Action Rifles being priced so high whether they be Rossi Winchester or Marlin?

They seem to be running double the price of 30-30s..

Most likely because of Cowboy Action Shooting.

Because the market isn't as big for that chambering----and you'll pay for it---if nobody was paying that price-they wouldn't make any.

They are a much sought after item around here. Mainly, for hunting purposes.

I tracked down a new Marlin in .357 for a friend a few weeks ago, and yes, it was definitely more costly than a similar .30-30.......... The dealer had one Puma and one Marlin in stock.

Name brand .44 mag lever guns are almost impossible to find locally; my favorite dealer won't even order one because they simply never arrive.

Of course, he has a small shop. A higher volume dealer might have more luck.

i paid about 900 for two of em, marlins, very lightly used.

if i'd had the cash i'd have bought two new at once.

they rock. if you own a .357 revolver and don't have one, you're missing big fun.

idiot?

the idiot is the guy trying to BUY one of mine. retail +100$ or buzz off..

I've not found them to be that much higher than .30-30's. You can get a new EMF 1892 carbine in .357 for around $450. The EMF's are higher quality finished Rossi made rifles. I have a EMF 1892 saddle ring carbine with 20 inch barrel with color case hardened receiver that I like better than my Winchester 94 in .357.

I'm not sure what 30-30's run as I have no desire for one, but new Marlin 94C's run mid $400's here. Mine is now one of my favorite guns in the safe.

I got mine at Big % Sports hut for about $320-ish a couple years ago. The one i had previously, which I sold during some tight post div. times, I got at Big % for $250.00-ish. Inflation gotta happen some time or another. Get one now, they really make the 357 mag shine!

A patently ludicrious empirical statement made by those convinced of their intellect, albeit in a colloquial and insular dark milieu.

They cost more due to the marketing to CAS and limited production.

The 357 in a lever rifle is such a pleasant shooter......great for women, kids,.....and me!

I've had my Winchester trapper since about 1990, and have had a great time shooting it. it's had several sets of iron sights and scopes......but, have had the Williams receiver sight on it for about a dozen years now......that's the way it'll stay!

edit: At that time, I paid retail for it in a local gun shop.......I think it was just over $300.........$309, $319......something like that......
