Tell me your thoughts on the 7.62x25 Tokerov round
Obsolete. More powerful than 9MM but with a smaller diameter bullet (.309) Ok for small game or plinking. Not known for target accuracy in the weapons it is encountered in. Very loud with bright muzzle flash in most loadings. If you can find the ammo cheap and then get a cheap gun to shoot it in it would be a fun gun and adequate for home defense although not the optimum. For some reason the Soviets seem to think that the standard military handgun cartridge should be the same caliber as the standard military rifle cartridge. When they were using the 7.62 X 54R and the 7.62 X39, they used the 7.62 X 25 pistol cartridge. When they switched to a 22 caliber rifle cartridge (5.45 X 39) they switched to a 22 caliber pistol cartridge (5.45 X18). It didn't take them very long to figure out that wasn't a good idea and the 5.45 X 18 is virtually unknown outside the former Soviet Union.
