Helped out a friend /shop owner, at his first gunshow as a dealer, and for my reward, he said pick anything from stock or order at my cost:supergrin:. I am a bit short on cash right now, so I have time to think on it:upeyes:. I am looking at an upscale buy, because of the deal. Any suggestions?
I don't need another Glock, so that is out. I am looking at a 1911 platform, or something in a Sig possibly. No long guns. Mainly handguns. Revolvers are a possiblity. Its:dunno: like one of those great deals that come along, but it is whatever you want thing. Hummm, what to do?
Get a S&W M&P R8 revolver. 8 Shot capacity 357 Mag. One very sweet shooting weapon. Should save quite a few bucks for dealer cost. LOL!!!

Springfield Armory 1911 EMP in 40cal.
What! Nobody mentioned the glock7? With the discount it should only cost one months salary!!!
but for real i would be lookn at the 8 shot .357 or the thunder ranch revolver in 45acp. Those are 2 pistols that I would love to have but probably would not buy at full price.
Mmmmm, Colt Python Elite?
I.M.O. I would hold the favor until you have the funds to buy something nice.

Raven, Jennings????
At dealer cost. . . . that could still cost you some coins.
I'd opt for one of these:
S&W mdl 625JM (Jerry Miculek) .45 acp revolver
Colt Combat Commander in .45 acp
Kimber 1911 in your choice of frame size/style.
H&K 45 ACP Tactical or a H&K 2000 ;)

Kinda my thoughts. Yall have actually nailed a few I am lookin at. Colt commander, Miculek, .45 revolver, the Thunder Ranch Mod 22. I have the Mod 21 TR in 44spl. That would make for a nice pair. Yea even at cost I am going to have to come up with some bucks. Just not as many!
Colt is making a new Combat Elite! Two tone, real beavertail, nice fit and finish. They are getting good reviews on the 1911 forums and they are not overpriced. That would be my choice, hands down.

heh... this took me a second to get.
... in all seriousness if there is such a thing on GT.
I'd look into high end S&W revolvers or German autos such as those that have been suggested. You can always find a nice 1911 or even a regular model S&W revolver at a decent price if you shop hard enough.

Ha, ha, ha, that is good one. Problem with ammo, I can buy on line as cheap as he can. Or at least close enough not to worry. Some really good ideas I had not considered.

All good Ideas. I thought this would be easy. But the more I look around the more undecided I become. I know it is not alot of savings but hey every little bit helps. In the case of the Les Bear, quite a bit.

Springfield Armory 1911 EMP in 40cal.
I have the EMP in 9MM and it's incredible. Dead on point of aim and not one single problem yet with over 2,000 rounds thru it. Just simply an incredible re-design of the 1911 for 9MM. Great shooter. (A little over-priced at retail)

Get yourself a 100% made in the USA!!! Detonics 1911. I recomend a Custom replica of the gun they made for Terminator 2. The one Sarah Connors had at Skynet, it's a 6 inch barreled 1911, I think it had a combat master frame and street master slide or vice versa, with an additional inch long full silhouette compensatore. I love 1911 long slides or standards with full silhouette comps. Great gun, expensive as hell, maybe a bit more affordable with the dealer cost.
Not Simple
10-13-2008, 01:15
Well this is simple really. You will have to look around and decide what you want. Any collector grade gun will not be such a great savings as dealer cost is pretty much what is is worth. IE; Colt Pythons, Early Smith & Wesson Model 29's (four or five screw) Original Series 70 1911's discountinued models and such the like. So there will be no great margin in these types of guns to the dealer. Therefore no great margin of savings for you either.
I would think that at this point you will need to pick a new production gun that retains mark up in it's retail cost to realize any real savings at all.
So that said start looking....... Now is your chance to save a small pile on a "new" dream gun.

Mmmmm, Colt Python Elite? That would be awesome, but they don't make them anymore. Used ones, or unfired second hand ones, go for 3 grand.

I have narrowed it down to three. A S&W Classic series Mod 24 in nickel. It is in 44spl. Or a P250 from Sig. It is a 3 guns in one. 9mm, .357 Sig, or .40 S&W. And last but not least, Ken Brown, Kobra Carry, or a Colt Commander in SS. If I had to make up my mind today I would go with the Mod 24. I am saving up a few more bucks, just in case. He told me take my time, no deadline. However there is an election coming and you never know. Anyone have input on the ones I listed? Let me know.
