Man, I can't wait. Five-day weekend, here I come.

October 2nd is the third anniversary of Mrs. Crit saying "I do" and swapping rings with me, and our little tradition is to take a few days off work and head out to one of the Indiana riverboat casinos for a night; very reasonable hotel rooms, good food, and throwing away a little money for the heck of it.

This year we got a king sized "deluxe" room (woohoo, jaccuzi!) and a pair of breakfast buffets for $94. Going in the middle of the week helps to get a good deal, and my mom gave up on trying to think of an anniversary gift for us so she just gave us cash (the slot machines thank her, no doubt).

Work's being pretty cruddy lately, and it'll just be nice to get away for a little bit.

Vacation, hurry up an' get here!

I decided to stay in Italy until Oct. 25, so that I'll be home for Halloween. I plan to stay home for two weeks then return here for two months.

I'm trying real hard to make this my regular gig. I won't mind a bit working a month in Buenos Aires, take a few weeks at home, a month in Piacenza, a few weeks home, etc.

Just keep me the **** out of Siberia!

For you, personally?

Hmmm...

Well, I don't know if he's your type, and I forget his name, but I took this one at a birthday party for Giovani's six-year-old son on Sunday.

I thought this was the perfect goomba pic. (Yes, I do call 'em ethnic slurs to their faces). ;)

This must be karma...my better half suggested we do this same sort of thing this coming weekend.

It's been fun every time we've done it, so far. I got the idea for our first anniversary 'cause "paper" is supposed to be the traditional gift -- so I kept all the plans a big secret, and for our anniversary present I gave her a stack of $5 bills (and told her some were for the room reservation, the rest for gambling away).

It was just so danged nice to get away for a night (and for a reasonable price!), sleep on a big ol' bed and not have to make it yourself, relax in a big ol' hotel bathtub, eat your heart out for a few meals and not have to do a single dish afterwards, etc, etc... we did it again for our second, and now our third anniversary, too. It's a fun, and fairly inexpensive, way to just sneak a little miniature vacation in.

I have often had to take my wife to a local hotel for a "mini vacation".

It sure makes life a little sweeter. :)

Enjoy!

Oh, we will.

Once I get my sleep schedule topsy-turvey for the rest of my week off; I'm just staying up to be staying up, right now. It's a good couple hours after my normal "bed time," but I'm determined to wait up 'till I see the sun go down. Just once, I want to sleep like a normal human being and pretend I'm not a third shift schmuck -- sleep with my wife next to me, while it's dark outside (and be on this schedule 'till I go back to work next week). Sometimes it's just nice to wake up and not see the sun, y'know? Sleep like a normal person.

Well, we both have king sized beds, so we're used to the "big ol' bed" part. He did get us the most expensive suite at one of the casinos in Reno while we were there, and that room was THE BOMB.

I have been thinking about shocking him by taking him to one of the local places though. It's an old 1860's house that's been restored and is a bed & breakfast. It's furnished in antiques from that same era.

Memphis is boring me right now. I need a change.

Well, the two of us have a Queen sized, and share it with our dogs (one who's about 50 pounds, one that just went to the vet today and weighed in at 68.5). So a King sized bed, and being able to streeeeeeeeeeeeeetch out without getting a face full of dog breath or a puppy farting in your eye, is a little slice of Heaven.

I like gettin a hotel room with 2 beds for those "special occasions", a ****in' bed and a sleepin bed. That way we don't have to fight over who seeps in the wet spot.

Congrats on the anniversary Critias, enjoy!

Everything's set up to drop the pups off at the doggie day care later today, I double checked and our reservations are all ready to go, I found driving directions and they're pretty easy, we've got a full tank of gas...and yesterday I swung by the florist in the way home to get a dozen yellow roses (My Texan wife loves 'em, we used all yellow roses at the wedding and such) as a surprise.

So far, so good!

Who, me? :whistling:

Well, we just got home about thirty minutes ago. We both just played penny slots this time around, but came out about $130 ahead. Knock off the price of the hotel room (minus gift card), the dinner buffets, and the 70 mile round trip (for gas money), and all told I think we still made a good $5. That's not too shabby, considering we both go into a casino fully planning on leaving without any of the money we "allow" ourselves to bring with us.

"Treasures of Troy" is my new favorite game. She couldn't find any of her "Little Green Men" slots, so she settled down by a "Double Dragon" and came away doubling her money.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how we did. We never plan on winning a thing. To me it's a fun place to sit for a little while, and I just try to stretch my money out by hitting every now and then -- but once I take my cash into the casino, I plan on it being gone. This was a nice anniversary present for Belterra casino and resort to give us. :)

Sounds like you had a great time :)

I have a nice dinner cooked up and waiting for us tonight.
