We just completed training, now we got three days liberty and then we report in, five days after that we will be in Kuwait for climatizing and more training, then we go over the border into Iraq.

Wish me luck! :wavey:

21K plumber, but I volunteered to go with the cavalry, so I will be coming back with the gold spurs.

SECFOR just requires a soldier to be MOSQ, after that they can hold any reasonable slot on the DMD. Just think of all the cooks you've seen as 240 gunners on PSDs.

My stay in the cavalry is temporary, after this deployment I will be returned to my engineer unit.

BTW, It really don't matter what your MOS is, every soldier is a rifleman first. If support troops were only meant to sit behind the wire, then their jobs could be done by civilian contractors.

Good luck over there and keep us updated on how you're doing.

By the way, I'll be heading to Afghanistan in a few months as part of a cav squadron.

Good luck man and stay safe. I just got back April 29 after 15 months over there. Oh, DO NOT trust the Iraq workers they have working on the FOB.

Not a chance. Once you go Cav, you can never go back...

...cuz they won't have you.
