Hey all,

I just finished watching the debate. I thought McCain did well, but didn't do any real damage to Hussein. I started thinking a bit about the format of the debate and what it was supposed to be like. These Town Hall style debates often get questions that are out of the ordinary but interesting. It was also supposed to be a debate about Domestic Issues.

OK, Domestic Issues, this is where I thought McCain could make his biggest points and hurt Hussein the most. There are LOTS of fertile ground in Hussein's past that are ripe for the taking. Knowing what tonight was "supposed" to be, McCain said he was going to take the gloves off and start hitting Hussein HARD on his connections and "friends" in Chicago. He even bragged about it in one of his campaign stops in New Mexico the other day. So the stage is set. Tonight is probably his last shot at making any real gains.

Moderating the debate is good ole Tom Brokaw. There is no question at all how he leans, he's a LIBERAL democRAT, maybe worse than that. It's not too hard to see how his network has handled the candidacy of Hussein, they are openly rooting for him. Ray Charles could see it.

Brokaw said no one knew the questions but him, HE picked them. As you now know there wasn't a single question asked about their domestic policies, beliefs, abortion, guns, and so on. None of them were asked. You know there had to be SOME in the group of 88 that had those questions, but they were never selected to ask them. That left McCain no chance at all to get at Hussein about his radical, America Hating buddies or his EXTREME LEFTIST policy thoughts.

Do you think it's possible that Brokaw knowingly kept questions like that out? He knew if he asked one McCain was going to come after him and the American people wouldn't like his answers.

I'm not saying he did or didn't, but it was kinda strange that not a single question came out tonight about the stuff that could really do some damage to him.

Your Thoughts?

Nope. Everyone is concerned about the economy. Keeping homes and jobs is a higher priority than guns and abortions for most people...

I think they asked the questions they thought were most relevant to the current state of affairs.

I hate BHO with everything in my body, but I didn't really think this debate was slanted in his favor at all. McCain just failed to deliver.

My opinion:

McCain controlled the first hour and was much more specific than Obama.

Obama, strangely enough, easily controlled the last half hour... Which SHOULD have been McCain's bread and butter.

I agree with joker here. McCain and Palin have both failed to capitalize IMHO. I was preparing a post when it first started ripping McCain for not bringing up BHO's ties to Freddy and Fanny. Finally as I was typing in the addy for GT he got him good.

Why nobody in the McCain camp has gone after Barracks ties with wright, ayers, etc... is totally beyond my comprehension. :dunno:

Do you think it's possible that Brokaw knowingly kept questions like that out, you ask?

Of course he knowingly chose the questions and thereby framed the debate.

see ya in 2012, maybe, if you're still here and I am, and no bets on either one.

That's the main thing I didn't like about last night's debate; tom brokaw weeding thru the questions.

You know he's gonna keep weeding thru the questions until he gets the questions he wants to ask. On top of all that, he had 'discussion questions' to ask as well.

Iffen it was me moderating I would of screened all the questions to make sure they were appropriate to the debate's topics and then select the questions to be asked by lottery.

Most boring show on TV last night imo. I heard a strange noise about an hour into it and realized it was the sound of 60 million or so folks changing the channel at the same time. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. For the BOTH of them imo.

An hour into it? I turned it off after 20 minutes.

Same old stuff from both candidates. Seriously, at this point in the game, if you don't know who you are voting for, then you shouldn't be voting.

Yes, the debate was tailer made to not hurt 0bama. Not a town hall at all. Many of these "undecideds" couldn't even read "their own" questions. Yeah, the media is focused on the economy, but don't try to tell me that no one cares about gun rights, infanticide on demand, immigration security, and what exactly BHO has actually done besides talk.

What was fishy was the moderator. Or lack of one.

Watch that. Republican party is currently a single issue party. Debating about anything beyond the war is asking for trouble because Obama is quite skilled. Even the war issue is not a slam dunk.

Glad to see that I am not crazy in believing that Brokaw didn't allow questions to come up that would potentially hurt Obama.

No doubt the economy warranted a few questions, but taking up 45 minutes of it? It's even more frustrating that this debate was supposed to be about those issues like abortion, guns, medical care, etc..

Obama is a skilled orator............as long as he has his teleprompter. He actually brings a teleprompter to his stump speeches out on the road. That's something that Bush didn't even do and Lord knows he could've used it.

The sad thing is that Obama would be really easy to beat if we had a candidate that went out and FOUGHT for his beliefs. McCain has obviously decided to keep the debates on a "high level of discourse" and not be petty by attacking his opponent. He has also kept his notorious temper in check because his aides have been telling him "DON'T GET MAD, FOCUS ON THE ISSUES AND NOT LET OBAMA GET TO YOU." The problem with that is that there are some issues where the American people WANT to see the man they are picking to lead this country get mad as Hell every now and again.

Sadly I think it's over for us. Things look really bad for our freedoms and our country. I can tell you that I am making a list of things to buy before Obama is sworn in. A few AR stripped lowers will definitely be on the list as well as HiCap mags.

I agree. I'm wondering when they are going to stop having all these CBS liberals moderating these debates and get someone fair and balanced.
