This sounds like a bad (but stupid) guy.

He is a youth ministry volunteer at Raymond Road Baptist Church and a parent of a student at Central Hinds Academy.

Anybody know him?

Man Accused Of Luring Child Resigns As Church Youth Helper
Donald Lowery Arrested In Cyber Sting

RAYMOND, Miss. -- A Raymond man charged in connection with trying to solicit sex over the Internet from a 13-year-old girl once worked as a church youth helper, 16 WAPT News has learned.

The state attorney general's office said Donald Scott Lowery, 44, faces charges after an alleged attempted meeting with a child he thought he had been conversing with over the Internet.

Attorney General Jim Hood said that Lowery was taken into custody Friday on a charge of exploitation of a child. Lowery was released from jail on Monday after posting a $25,000 bond, officials said.

Hood said Lowery had been communicating online for three days with an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children officer who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. Lowery made arrangements to meet the girl at Dogwood Festival for the purpose of having sex, Hood said. That’s where officers arrested him.

On Tuesday, Lowery resigned as a youth ministry volunteer at Raymond Road Baptist Church, the church minister said.

A parent of a student at Central Hinds Academy said that Lowery served as a school board member there and his name was listed on the school's website until Tuesday afternoon. The school had no comment about Lowery’s status at the school on Tuesday.

A parent who knows Lowery said that the news is upsetting. He didn’t want to be identified for this story.

“He's always around children and I don't know if that might be a coincidence,” he said. “That's my concern.”

A condition of Lowery’s bond is that he cannot have access to children under the age of 18, Hood said. Lowery’s case is now being sent to a grand jury.
