For those in the Portland area, I'm helping out at a local public Linux workshop, what we geeks like to call an "installfest".
There will be people there who will be able to answer questions, help install Linux on your computers, demonstrate its capabilities, etc.

I am a Fedora Ambassador and will be representing Fedora, passing out DVDs/CDs, answering questions, etc. Other distributions represented will be Ubuntu, OpenSuSE, Mint, and PCLinuxOS.

Saturday Oct. 25th 10am-4pm.

Dammit! If only I didn't work....I've been meaning to get down to PDX anyway.

I just found out that there is a (somewhat) local Linux club that meets at the University of South Carolina once a month. Unfortunately I cannot make it over there given my work schedule but I did get some contacts.

I helped out w/ one of these one time. It was pretty informal, and was setup on a forum.. It was fun.

Have a good time.

I wish they had something like this around my area. Anyone know of anything?

Meman, look for a Linux User Group in your area.
Here are a couple in NV:

Depending on the group they usually have monthly meetings, which in some cases includes an "installfest" type thing.

All of the linux groups in my area no longer come together or the website is down:(

What distribution are you trying to install? You can probably get specific help relating to that distribution on their forums.... Installing Linux to Dualboot, is really quite simple.
