View Full Version : Magellan Maestro 4350
Anyone have any experience with this GPS products? Magellan Maestro Series.
I just ordered the 4350. I'll let you know once I put it through its paces.
My wife has one. 4325 I think. Works pretty good. I have noticed a few errors with the maps. A few dead ends that aren't on the GPS. Once it tried to get me to drive in a circle. :tongueout:
I have the Maestro 4040. Its got the 2007 map. It's a wide screen Text to Speach unit that's not too bad although I wouldn't completely trust it without checking a map to make sure I'm being routed the way I want to go.
I'm taking it with me to Hawaii in January. Hope it's accurate there.
I have a 3140 I believe, bought it mid last year for around $360. I use it almost everyday, all over the country(travel ALOT for work). Occasionally it will take me a slower way then I already know, but I've only had it be in accurate once. Other then that I love it, works great and always gets me where I need to be.
The traffic updates are pointless though, by the time the GPS updates that there is traffic ahead your either one already stuck in it, or its already cleared. I recommend any of the Magellan units, but I wouldn't bother paying for traffic updates after your trial period(6 months if I recall correctly).
EDIT: its a 3250 Maestro
Heres what I found with my 4350. The pros and cons :
1- Setup was pretty easy.
2- Windsheild mounting bracket holds well but could have been designed
to be a bit more flexible for more different mounting positions.
3- Re-routeing so far has been excellent.
4- Bluetooth was a ***** to set up and took forever. While search out my
Motorola Rizer Z3 to connect it froze up the GPS a dozen times.
After all was said and done I finally got it to work.
5- FM modulator through my stero in 2 vehicles makes the voice
commands sound tinny. Your best off using the 4350's speakers.
6- The 3D and 2D function works well. The 3D buildings have not
appeared as of yet. This may be due to the buildings not being tall
enough. I'm really not sure.
7- The traffic alert function still hasn't recieved any messages. This may
only work in bigger metro areas.
8- The display is bright and crisp.
9- The touch-screen is very sensitive to the touch. Tap buttons softly!
10- The SD card back-up works well, I use a 2 GHz chip.
11- Typing in info on the keyboard takes alittle getting use to, but once
you do it works well.
12- Search function whether on the Magellan hard drive or the AAA book
13- This unit does not come with a soft cover manual. Magellan supplies
you with a CD manual. THIS SUCKS! But! if you send them an e-mail
supposedly they will send you a soft cover manual..We shall see!
14- CD manual does not show you how to load music or videos. I'm still
trying to figure this out.
15- Navigation with the 4350 is easy and doesn't overload you with info
16- The 4350 enables you to add or delete landmarks, historic, and other
info very well.
17- Accuracy of your location and movement is excellent.
18- The 4350 is very well built and a solid unit. The 4.3 inch screen is a
perfect size for navigation.
19- On full speaker volume the voice commands are a bit choppy.
20- Unit should display other interstate exits other than the one you turn off.
