They went to this at the beginning of summer, and it was pretty good. Any one else plan on attending this?

I may go Saturday morning just because I have nothing else to do and it's only about 10 min away. I went to one a while back and didn't buy a thing. I've been thinking of buying a S&W 642 and a Ruger LCP... but not sure I'll find anything in my price range this weekend. Don't need to be spending money on myself this close to Christmas & such...

There's another Dixie Jan 17-19... I'll probably save my buying for that one.

I am planning to make the show either the 22nd or the 23rd.
Is the show in Jan better or about the same as this one?

They are all pretty similar.

Does this show generally carry a wide selection of handguns or is it mostly rifles and other long guns? Are the prices significantly less than a local gun shop that it is worth the drive?

Lots of merchants selling handguns. More handguns than rifles, both times I've been (which have been within the past 12 months).

I don't know if the prices are substantially better. The thing that's really nice is that you can go there and see and handle a variety of weapons.

I'll be there bright and early Sat. morning. If you see a guy with cargo pockets on a pair of liberty's say hello.

I will probably be there nice and early Saturday as well. I'm praying it will not be too crowded.

I've never been to one. Will they have ARs? Maybe I'll try to get there Saturday...

Yes, they do (well, did in previous years) have quite a few different AR's, and some with very decent prices. I do not want to buy one now with the higher prices, and probably a smaller selection, but they should be quite a few there.

Gun shows are always gun though, its nice to be able to look at/hold a large variety of guns/assault rifles.

It does cost money to get in though, $12 I think.

$8 bucks, and you can get a dollar off coupon here: Dixie Gun and Knife Classic (http://www.dixiegunandknifeshow.com/raleigh.html)

Ok thanks. I already ordered a upper and lower receiver and I planned on going the short barrel route but I talked to an attorney today and I just think it's going to be so much trouble...so I want to see how a 16 inch barrel feels like. I'm very tiny so I was thinking the shorter barrel would be better for me.

I think I'm going tomorrow with the intent of buying mags and Glock mag pouchs; but is there even a point, is it going to be cheaper than ordering these things online? Or do y'all think the prices will be jacked up because of high demand?

Will they have ARs?

In the past three shows I've been to in that building, one shop has a build your own AR table, piece by piece; with lots of options.

I believe its Del Ton that does that. 2 of my buddies did that at a show in Greensboro, everything from a stripped lower to the sights all bought there.

I'll be there at 10 tomorrow morning. As far as prices, I've never seen anything that really blows the local shops out of the water... especially if you're paying $7 to get in plus gas if you don't live nearby. I just go for the selection and find the best price later...

Mr. Ton must be making a mint, especially today if he's there.

I'm going tomorrow...If any of y'all went, or are planning to go today, can you let me know how much 15rd G19 mags and the Glock Magazine Pouch are going for.

I'm trying to decide whether it's better to just buy the stuff online than pay $7 (which would be like shipping costs) to get them at the gun show.

I'm kinda guessing prices are going to be jacked. I'm guessing none of y'all will be buying a pistol from Ed's Gun Shop, heh. Thanks.

I went this morning. Sheesh!

I got there at 10am, stood in line.. stood in line.. stood in line some more.. and finally walked in the door at 10:55am. WOW!

By my best calculations.. and the people's guesses around me.. there were probably 500+ standing in line.

When I left around 12, it wasn't near as bad.. but teh wait was probably still 15 minutes.

I didn't see any "deals" to speak of, but didn't see a lot of outright gouging either. I was mainly just looking at handguns and hunting rifles. The lowest price I saw on a standard Glock like a 19 or 23 was $489.

I was looking for a S&W 642. They were about $430 most places.. but one guy had one for right around $390.

I wound up buying nothing but a bag of beef jerky. :)

Yeah, very crowded. I saw more 1K+ AKs, there were still sub 1 K ARs though. M14 were about the same. Ammo was the big seller. 7.62x39 $259/1000. 223? I didn't look.

I got a little irritated at the dealers that inflated the price and had B. S. s picture saying buy while you still can. Inflate your price, fine, but don't try to scare me into to thinking your 3K ak is a bargain because the great satan will be sworn in soon and he IS going to ban all firearms. It's a cheap ploy any way you look at it.

Did anyone catch prices on Glock (19) magazines?

11-23-2008, 06:08
A friend of mine that works off duty as Security there said it was insane how long the lines were to get in, much less the lines to purchase components. Of course these dealers are going to inflate prices on AR's, AK's or any politically incorrect weapon as they know, as we all do, that once Osama is in power that he will resurrect the AWB. I bought mine long ago. If you waited till now to buy, you are seriously behind the curve and will pay the price. I hate it more than most but this is what occurs when you lose elections to socialists.

The guy that builds AR's onsite is Dave from Black Rifle Works. He is right here in Raleigh also. I've bought stuff from him and he is a very good guy to deal with.

There is also a show DEC 20-21 at the same place. Its put on by CC&E instead of Dixie Gun. Its a good show also, especially is you want military guns and accessories.

Seems like you have a lot of misplaced hate for our President-Elect. Don't get me wrong, he is totally a socialist and you hit that on the head. But, McCain also said several times that he'd sign off on the AWB...and on the upside the rest of the world doesn't think we're sub-retarded (this will positively affect your bank account, even if you still call them Freedom Fries). Really, you should be whining about Brad Miller and David Price; not Obama. Do you know who Hugh Webster is? BJ Lawson? There's no question we elected this parliament of whores, like all others, through ignorance. Whose?
Here in NC we just elected the worst people in my lifetime to run this state (whoooooo we got Troxler!); and that's a lofty f-ing statement as we're coming down from tax hike Mike Easly Governor/Chief Racketeering commissioner [they're just now finding more private planes that I help pay for].

WTF kind of civics do they teach in public school? :faint:Learn how govenment works. My parents pulled me in 1st grade after we did a one day, all-inclusive unit on the Civil War that explained that it was a war to emancipate the slaves and nothing else.

So, I'll ask for the third time (on this page at least) in case I get lucky while someone signs on to call the leader of the free world derogitory names did anyone see prices on Glock 19 15rd magazines at the gunshow? Thank you.

I went today and it was the busiest I have ever seen it for a Sunday. I saw G19 mags from $20-25.

I'm sure with the hundreds and hundreds of people there, everyone in this thread made a bee line to check mag prices for you.

You've been to a gun show before I take it. How many times have you ever seen Glock mags cheaper than online including freight?

I've been going to shows in Raleigh for 4 years. Never have I ever seen a decent price on mags there....from anyone.

Thanks for reminding me that the individuals that make up this community don't care about the interests of others.

Last time I was there (early Summer, maybe Spring 2008) I saw them for $17, their were also Beretta 92fs magazines for $15, the massive table that has consistently carried lots of magazines. I bought some for my Ruger at $15-16 a piece. I realize that was too much to hope for in this political climate and I didn't go today/yesterday.
