Florida's small game season started yesterday on management land. This includes Escambia River, in NW Fla. Hogs are considered small game.
Wife and I was doing some preseason scouting for deer and hogs when a good sized sow hog came up outta the river swamp that we were sitting besides.
My wife heard the water splashing and I got ready with the .44mag Desert Eagle rested accross a big pine blow down. As she stepped onto dry land, after quickly determining that she was not visably pregnant or nursing,I put a 300gr Hornady XTP(handload) just in front of the shoulder from 30yds away, and she went down where she was hit.
She weighed just under 180lbs on the digital scale in my garage. It will be cold tonight so she will hang in the garage til tomorrow AM. Should be some great eatin'.
